Sephora Makeup

Becca, on December 20, 2016 at 11:50 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

Anyone get their makeup done at sephora for their wedding? I don't wanna hire someone and it's pretty cheap at Sephora.

I know a makeup artist isn't something to skimp out on, but honestly I just want very simple makeup so I don't wanna spend a lot.

So what have your Sephora experiences been?

Thanks!

Ask if they do free lance work. A lot of them do. That way you can hire them officially.

Depends on who happens to be working that day. It will be a roll of the dice.

I've used Sephora and ULTA for pageants and it was always a good experience.

I've also hired artists from both to come meet me in my hotel as a freelance instead of going to the store.

Thats risky for wedding! I did it for my engagement pics and Ive done it as guest at others wedding! Ive had mix experiences! Some are amazing and others are okay!!!

I used them for my bridal shower makeup and engagement pictures, as well as for a number of events that were non wedding related. I have always had a good experience but I wouldn't have used them for my wedding since you can only request a particular person, it isn't a guarantee.

When I mentioned that I was getting engagement pics done my artist of the day said she often did weddings but didn't push it on me.

I feel better knowing that I am using someone who does weddings as her business. She will understand the need for the pictures to be good. It took her 2 hours during my trial. Sephora works in much shorter amounts of time so I am not sure that they can give you the attention that you will deserve.

If it is a debate on doing your own or using Sephora I would say use them. If you are able to hire someone who specialized in bridal makeup, I would go that route.

Sephora doesn't do freelance- because they are not licensed MUA's.

If you want a freelance MUA- go to the MAC counter somewhere- they hire freelance artists. Who are actually licensed in the state.

I wouldn't go this route unless you were A. comfortable sucking it up if it sucks. B. really speaking up if you hate it. and C. have an extremely small wedding.

I'd actually get an appointment with an artist at like a MAC counter- or bobbi brown counter first before just walking into a Sephora.

But really the best bet is to pay a professional to do it.

I had a free makeover coupon from Sephora and had a nice experience. I learned a LOT about different products and techniques, and it has made a major difference in my daily makeup routine. My skin and eyeshadow looked really great! But I had to tweak the mascara and eyeliner to my own preference (she didn't apply as thick of a coat of mascara as I like to have) and tone down the lip color she chose for me. I agree with others-- Sephora makeup for your wedding is a risky route to take.

You are probably paying thousands for a photographer, your dress, your headpiece/veil. After all this investment you cheap out on makeup and get what you get at a counter artist. I personally felt like this was almost more important to me than anything else. I wanted to shine not only that day but in the hundreds of pictures that were taken that day.

I think it depends on who you get at Sephora. I had my makeup done there for my engagement pictures. It was okay. I thought it was too much but was satisfied. Going with a professional MUA that is coming to me for my wedding.

My sister had her makeup done at sephora and it looked really good! I know this picture isn't the best for showing you her makeup but it's the only one I have.

My girlfriend hired a MAC girl for her wedding and she was awesome. She was not cheap. You can do a "trial" though for $50 worth of product at a MAC counter. I would do it for that.

Also, you aren't getting make-up done for a night on the town, you are getting make-up done for pictures, possibly under a flash or in bright natural light. You don't want to be washed out.

I had my makeup done at ulta for the rehearsal. It was fine for that event, but I'm really glad that I had a professional wedding MUA for the day. The lady kept having to stop what she was doing to help other people and was not able to concentrate on me.
