Separate room for dance floor

Neisha-Lynae, on May 21, 2018 at 10:32 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 8
Hey guys. I'm looking at venue stage and my fiance and I found one place we love. Only obvious down side is the dance floor is in a completely separate room from the reception area. Just curious if you guys have any ideas how to keep all the guest feeling connected if some are sitting and others are dancing

Is the space large enough to set up cocktail tables and lounge seating around the dance floor? For my wedding we are having dinner in the garden area of our venue but dancing in the barrel room. All the adults will move to the barrel room they won’t be split up and we will have seating for those that want it.

Are the spaces right next to each other? My sister had a separate space for dinner and for dancing, but they were right next to each other, so they kept the doors open so they still felt connected. A few tables and chairs were brought into the dance space. It was actually a really nice set up. People who wanted to get away from the loud music, but still wanted to see the dancing, could go back into the room where we ate dinner and sit and relax.

Thanks for replying! 😁 Yes the event planner was telling us that's how it usually goes but I'm happy to have a opinion from someone who actually experienced it

Curious to know how your wedding turned out. My venue has a similar set up. A ballroom for dinner and then a open rooftop with lounge and table seating for dancing with the bar. I’m extremely anxious and hoping this won’t unsettle guests.Did you have any issues moving guests or getting people dancing? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

It turned out great! After the last course of dinner my husband stood up and said we invite you all into the barrel room for dessert and to witness our first dance. Everyone followed us and they closed off the garden where dinner was happening. The barrel room had a ton of lounge seating and high top tables. As well as a bar, a coffee station, and 3 different kinds of desserts. We also had fire pits directly outside of the barrel room for everyone that still wanted to be outdoors.

That sounds awesome and I’m so happy it turned out great for you! Just curious how many guests did you have and how much seating was available in the dancing room? Our setup is all on the 15th floor of a hotel there’s a ballroom for dinner, a foyer and we were going to ask everyone to move down the foyer into a retractable rooftop lounge where we will open the roof and have two bars. The rooftop lounge has couches and tables and our coordinator said there was about 70 soft seats. We will probably have 120-150 guests and just want to make sure that’s enough seating for people who aren’t dancing/ want to take a break. Would love to know how many guests you had and how much seating was available in your dancing area. I could have the dancing in the ballroom but the rooftop is really beautiful and am having a hard time figuring out what the best option is!

We had around 160. Here’s a picture of our layout for that part of the evening and some pictures of the lounge furniture and high top tables. Most people were on the dance floor!

Separate room for dance floor 1

Separate room for dance floor 2

Separate room for dance floor 3

Separate room for dance floor 4
