Separate dance floor area

Janae, on July 20, 2022 at 11:13 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
I’m getting worried about having my dance floor separate from the reception area, fearing older family members will hate having to get up to see the first dance, etc. I really love the venue but wondering if I should keep looking as I still have time to get my deposit back. Anyone have positive or negative experiences with weddings with this style? (Pic is from dance floor & there are also going to be about 5 tables to the right that will be cut off from having a view of dance floor)Separate dance floor area 1

I would not stress over it. Though it’s understandable if you do. Older guests may prefer to be away from the speakers and may not even mind being out of view of the dance floor. You have two options to work with by keeping the venue: 1) have your dance closer to where the “around the corner” guests are or 2) rearrange the tables so that everyone is centralized and use the corner area for something else. Your month of coordinator can help you out with room layout.

Ehh, idk. All the venues we looked at that had pillars we declined because we didn’t want those things to be in the way of peoples view. I’d ask them what they would recommend and see what the best option is.

If you love the venue, I think you should keep it. This seems like a minor issue, and like Imani said, you can ask them for suggestions.

Immediately after your entrance, you could have your first dance. If the door is on the far side (by tables), you can have greeters inform your guests to head to the dancefloor for the first dance. Everyone is usually standing to see anyway. After the dance, you altogether can be seated in the dinner space. Many venues are set up where dance floor is on one side, not center. It will be ok.
