Sentimental Gift for Father of the Bride

Dana, on February 10, 2020 at 12:46 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12

Hi all! I am totally stumped about what to get my dad for my wedding May. I want it to be something sentimental because I'm his little girl but he is a totally relaxed and not-into-many things type of guys. I saw the personalize message on a back of the tie but he is wearing a tux with a bow tie. My mom is easy to get for I already got her a bracelet. I'm open for all ideas. Thank you!

What about an engraved watch or an embroidered handkerchief?

I like pp suggestion of something engraved or embroidered. Cufflinks? A knife?

I got my dad a tie with a patch on the back that had a picture of us and said "forever your little girl", both my husband and I both wrote him letters, we got him socks that said "father of the bride" with our wedding date, then a picture frame that said "out of all the walks we've taken, this is my favorite" then after the wedding gave him a picture for the frame.

I bought an embroidered handkerchief from Etsy and I can tell just by looking at it that it's probably going to make my dad cry if he isn't already lol

    He’s not really into watches.

I got my dad an elephant paperweight (he loves elephants), and then dug up an old picture of the two of us when I was a little kid, and slipped that into the wrapping.

My dad doesn't need a lot of "stuff", either, but he's been working on a new business venture, so I figured a paperweight would be helpful for notes... or throwing in frustration. The picture was just to see if I could make him cry. (Nearly, but then we cracked jokes.)

What about an experience ? Something you could do with your dad that is just for you and him.

What about a handwritten letter on something you can frame?

You can just shop for your dad like it's his birthday and include a personal letter or photo. I'm probably going to get him the same photograph he gave me for my 18th birthday.
