Sending rsvp cards vs.. online Rsvp’s?

crazypants, on April 6, 2018 at 11:04 AM Posted in Planning 0 10
I’m trying to decide if we should just ask our guests to RSVP online or if we should actually send out RSVP cards. My fiancée thinks we should pay the extra money for the cards because people might be more likely to remembers. I do think, since we are limiting children to the wedding party, it might be more effective to put the “ _/2” guests attending on the card as a subtle hint not to bring kids because people in Utah always assume they are invited. However, it would be cheaper to do online RSVP’s. Does anyone know what is more successful?

I would do both. Somewhere on your RSVP card, write something along the lines of "RSVP by mail or online (list website) by 'such and such date'."

You could do both for sure. I am putting cards in after wrestling with it for a while. We have relatives who don't do technology very well and I would have to track them down, but most people will see an RSVP card and send it back as long as you have a stamp

I did both. I put a little piece of paper that said if you would prefer to RSVP online visit....

I'm still debating what I'm actually going to do (I still have 6+ months to think about it), but I'm toying with the idea of only sending physical RSVP's to our older guests. I really don't want to spend money on sending RSVP cards (plus envelope plus stamp) to all my friends who I know will just RSVP online anyways.

I know on Minted you can specify how many people are in the party on the online RSVP (ex: if the invite was addressed to Joe and Sue, you can set minted up to have a drop down menu with the choice of choosing "accepts" for only 1 or 2), so that could solve your dilemma with specifying the # invited.

The last 2 weddings I went to only did online RSVP's and I didn't hear any negative feedback about it from them, so I don't think sending a physical RSVP is all that important, but I know lots of people have different opinions about it! Just wanted to offer a different perspective. Good luck!

    We did online.

We "tested" it by sending electronic requests for addresses. Everyone with the exception of his grandma did it without issue.

Two years ago I was in a wedding where the bride did strictly online RSVP's and it worked wonderful for her. We don't have any order guest coming that aren't grandparents (those we know are coming) so we are doing online RSVPs only too and hoping it will work! We are also limiting children which we spread by word of mouth, but also with the online RSVP you can only RSVP for the names that we inputted into the system.

We have only had one person use our online RSVP function. Everyone else has sent back the stamped cards.

I just met with our invitation designer yesterday and we decided to do online RSVPs. We will have our actual invitation and then a details card that will also have information about the welcome reception and our website to RSVP on. We did our website thru Minted and we will have people RSVP for both events as well as ask them their meal choice and where they are staying so we now where to run shuttles from.
