Sending out invites

Katie, on June 14, 2020 at 10:19 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
I originally planned on sending invitations the first week of July (save the dates went to 135 people back in February). However, NC is still in phase 2 and there’s a 25 person limit on outdoor gatherings. I feel pretty confident that by September 19 we would be able to have more than 25 (although idk anymore because we’re seeing spikes in hospitalizations now) but I don’t want to have to cut the guest list after invites are sent! I’m sure others are in this situation too. How are other brides handling this situation? Are you waiting longer to send invites?

I included an insert card that stated we were monitoring the situation due to Covid, and might have to make changes including... reduced guest list, virtual ceremony, or reception cancellation. I think people would understand if you have to change it to immediate family.

In getting married 9/6 in N.C. and I sent my invites out June 1. I’m already getting RSVPs and I’m updating the wedding website as we move along in the phases. I spoke with my venue yesterday and they are super optimistic and ready to love forward!

I’m sending invitations to our entire guest list in July for our October wedding in Philadelphia. They are still very closed and I don’t known when they will move to the next phase which should allow weddings, but I am hoping they will open up by September. We are also sending a little business sized card in the invitations that says things may change due to COVID and to check our website for updates.

The cards in the invites are a great idea!! Invitations aren't even on my radar yet, but definitely something to consider.

We knew it was getting iffy that we could even have the wedding, but we were under contract and needed to get the invites out. So we put a covid19 card in with the invite stating that we were keeping an eye on everything. Then sure enough 4 weeks before the wedding we had to postpone. Now the wedding is in a year and we have to send out new save the dates, then eventually new invites.

Funny thing is, we got almost half the RSVP's back stating they would all come!
