Sending out Invitations

Courtney, on March 13, 2020 at 10:21 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

When should invitations be sent out?

Our wedding is in NY on July 25, 2020. I see that most people send them out about 2 months in advance however my Fiances family will be flying in from Texas and Hawaii. We already sent out save the dates so those invited should be aware of the date but should we send the invites out earlier than normal since they are going to need to purchase plane tickets and do some planning on their part? Also, for a wedding in July, when should RSVP's be due back by?

For Reference, Im Getting Married In October. Save The Dates Are Just Now Being Sent Out And I Plan On Sending Invitations Out In June, With The RSVP Deadline Being August 1st. I Also Have People Flying In So I Think At Least 4 Months Out For Those People IMO. RSVP's Should Be Due Back 6-8 Weeks Before The Wedding But If Your Venue Requires An RSVP Deadline For A Final Count You Should Take That Into Consideration Smiley smile

We sent our invitations 12 weeks before the RSVP deadline - over 80% of our guest list would be flying in from out of state (and I was sick of being bombarded by family asking when they were going out). 8-12 weeks out from your wedding is a good deadline, especially with people needing flights.

2 months should be plenty of time if you’re already sending out save the dates.

We're having a destination wedding in October. We just ordered the STDs, but already told the key people that needed to know early. we'll send the STDs probably next week. Additionally, we will have on our wedding website links to hotel rooms for their reservations.

We probably won't send out invitations until August 1st with an RSVP for September 1 for our October 10th wedding. However, we are still debating on whether or not to make the RSVP through the website only. it would make it more cost effective and easy in the grand scheme.

Our menu choices need to be in 12 days prior to the wedding and final head count is needed four days prior. Just for peace of mind I would like to have them in and accounted for a little before that though. Especially considering we're having our ceremony and reception on a military base and need to have everyone's full name, middle initial, and DOB back and organized to give to the venue so that they can give it to the front gate.
