Sending invites/RSVP to immediate family and bridal party?

FutureHennigan, on November 8, 2017 at 12:24 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

So, I've read that it's a nice gesture to send an invite to your VIPs (parents, siblings, bridal party) because they may want to have it as a keepsake/display it on the fridge/whatever.

However - do you still have to send an RSVP card and envelope? It seems silly to send them a response card and stamped envelope when they are already 100% confirmed. Some of our bridal party has even already gone onto our website and RSVPed "yes". I just don't feel like it's necessary to send the whole suite to them - but am I wrong?

Why is your website set up for RSVPs if your invitations haven't even been mailed?

Yes, and out-of-town guests especially could benefit from a direction card.

I'm including RSVP information with family and VIPs because I would need a record if what their meal order would be for dinner. ETA: also, many of my VIPs and bridal party are out of town, so they would benefit from the information on the full suite.

@Going to the Chapel because we are using The Knot for their guest list feature. We've already imported our guest list and that automatically gives the guests the option to RSVP. I shared our website with our bridal party for them to spell check/give opinions/etc and some of them just went ahead and RSVPed.

I sent everyone everything. My step-mom thought it was weird and got a little miffed, but I said it was just easier to send them to all.

@Katie - I foresee that happening with my dad and step mom. They were miffed last year when FH and I sent christmas cards and we addressed theirs by their names instead of "mom and dad" or whatever. I said it was proper and that we addressed ALL the cards that way.

I'm sending it to everyone, wedding party and our immediate families included. And like you said, it's like a cute keepsake for them too. We hand delivered our STDs to our parents about a few days after we had them printed (like back in September) just so that they could have it.
