Sending invitations

Ellen, on July 6, 2021 at 4:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
Yes. I know this has been asked 142,365 times... lol. If I have an RSVP date by September 9, when should I mail them? Last week of July? Early August? Don’t want to send too early and they get lost in the sauce. Wedding is October 9 but venue wants to know by mid September and meet. Thanks everyone!

    I think with the pandemic, people are planning trips to make up for lost time. And if you have out of town guests, finances can be another issue. So an earlier invite I think would be appreciated. I vote end of July.

    I just asked this!! lol

    We were going to send invitations today for our October 7th wedding with a RSVP deadline of August 29th. Our venue requires 30 day notice of the final head count.

    Now I'm thinking mail on July 26, RSVP deadline staying at August 29th.

    You could probably do the same. Good luck!

    I sent mine out 3 months in advance. There's an RSVP date because my venue wanted to know as well. And they have the physical invite and can put things in their phones as reminders. I'm doing things backwards though and sending save the dates as reminders about 4 weeks before.

    Here's how we figured out when to send ours:

    Wedding = September 3rd

    Caterer guest count due = August 13th (3 weeks before wedding)

    RSVP deadline = August 6th (1 week before guest count is due, in case of stragglers)

    So we sent the invites 5 weeks before RSVP deadline (9 weeks before the wedding) = 1 week for the invites to arrive and 4 weeks to mull it over since the majority will need to travel. Some guests have already gotten them, too! We dropped them off 30 minutes before the post office closed on Saturday, then Sunday and Monday were government holidays, so I'm impressed!

    Anytime between 6-8 weeks before the wedding. Do not mail them earlier or they will get lost and forgotten.

    Yes it will be about 5 weeks before due date too. I got a wedding invite for my friends July 17 wedding a while back and mailed it the next day! I love weddings. Yes several people I know are planning big trips because they are so over being stuck at home.

    That’s actually a great idea. Sending STD’s as a reminder. That’s the first time I’ve heard that. Hopefully that prompts any stragglers to respond. I figure I’ll have an extra week to do follow up calls to anyone who hasn’t responded.

    I always vote earlier. I am a busy person and often have things planned a few months out. For example, my cousin who had to reschedule his wedding 3 times due to covid, sent his invite 8 weeks prior to the date. I already had a wedding that I RSVPd to because I didn’t receive a save the date for the new date and didn’t know about it. I received the invite for the other wedding a little over 3 months in advance. I RSVPd and put it in my phone the day I got the invite. I think if it’s important to people they will put it in their calendar and not forget. Maybe that’s just me though. I like having a heads up about things.

    We're mailing ours this Saturday for our September 4th wedding date. RSVP due date is Augusts 13th. It gives our guests about 5 weeks to respond and about 8 weeks from the time they receive to the time of the wedding.
