That depends on how far in advance you’ll need a final count by !

Invites should be sent out 2-3 months out. Some request RSVPs back at least 2 weeks prior but I've heard others extend it out a little bit. I'd say no sooner than a month prior.

I am sending invitations out a little before the 3 month mark and our RSVP date is 5 weeks prior to the date.
I’m going to be chasing to have all RSVPs due within a few days of that date (since not everyone actually does RSVP by the date requested) so that we can organise our seating charts and stationery without being stressed about the last minute.

Invites are sent out 6-8 weeks before the wedding. Any earlier and people will forget.

Find out when your caterer/venue needs a final head count (usually 2 weeks before wedding). Your response due due date is roughly 1-2 weeks before that to allow you time to track down anyone who forgot to reply and tally your final headcount.

Talk to your venue, caterer, and rental company about when they need your final guest count by. Take the earliest date, and ask for the RSVPs to all be back a week before that date. That will give you enough time to track down the people that do not RSVP in time

We have to have a final count to our caterer a month before our date. So I added two weeks and made that the RSVP so that I knew I would have enough time to hunt down people who didn't respond on time. We are planning on sending the invites out at the end of July or beginning of August for our October wedding.

We sent our out again for a date change due to COVID in May for a September wedding because we need to send in our final numbers the last week of August to the catering company and then numbers to the venue for tables the first week of September. We have an early August rsvp date so we can track down the missing ones

It depends on whether or not you’ve sent out or will be sending out Save the Dates. If so, you can wait a bit longer on sending the invites. If not, you’ll want to send them about three months out. RSVPs should be due about a month before, but always check with vendors about when they need final counts. Be sure to give yourself time to track down people who have not RSVPd because there will always be some who don’t.

Invites are sent out 6-8 weeks before the wedding (a little earlier if you have international/long-distance guests). RSVP date is a good week or two before you need the final count. (Our caterer gave us 10 days to the wedding for the final count.)

No matter what, you're going to have to chase people down. It is the scourge of wedding planning - you could make RSVPing SO easy, and... people will forget. Or not care. (Those were the worst. How rude.)

    So, our wedding was 8/24.

We sent out invites in June, because we had some international guests. Our RSVP date was Aug 1, since our final count was due Aug 14.

You don't want to know how many people we had to chase down. I deliberately forgot, because it included over 20 members of my own family, the majority of whom forgot on purpose, because they didn't like the invitations.

Etiquette says 6-8 weeks prior. I got married on leap day this past year. We sent out our invitations the week after Thanksgiving and our RSVP date was January 15th. We had a lot of out of town guests and wanted to give them enough time to get their reservations and plans set.
