Sending invitations during Holiday Season

Paulina, on December 19, 2016 at 4:18 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 20

My wedding is February 25 so two months right after Christmas. I just received my beautiful wedding invitations today and I am debating whether or not I should send them this week right before Christmas or wait until next week... I am afraid they might get lost with all the Holiday mail! Smiley sad Advice as to what I should do?

Also, is there a website where you can buy stamps in bulk for cheaper than the post office?

Thanks in advance !

I would send them right after Christmas. I'm not sure about where to buy stamps cheaper than the post office. I would think the post office would have the best price.

Hi! I am sending my STDs after Xmas so they don't get lost in the mail, myself. I would probably wait until at least the 26th to send them...

Our wedding day is also February 25 we are sending them out asap, stuffing them all day tomorrow. Then calling folks we haven't heard from once we start hearing that people have gotten them.

I would drop them in the mail on December 26. I would recommend taking one completed invitation to the post office and have them weigh it. Invitations typically need more than a standard stamp.

I think if you put them in the mail right on the 26th, that will be fine. Your guests will receive them just a few days after Christmas.

Since stamps are the cost required for a person to mail a letter, it's not possible to buy stamps for less than they are sold at the post office.

6-8 weeks before. I think you'll be okay.

No, you can't buy stamps for less than what they cost.....

I would definitely send after. I just sent out save the dates (our wedding is OOT for the majority of our guest list) and my co-worker's husband thought it was "a fancy Christmas card" haha.

Stamps cost what they cost, there aren't "discounts". I'd wait until after Christmas to send invites.

You can buy stamps a little cheaper at Costco. I priced them yesterday and they were 47 cents instead of 49 cents. They only had stamps with the flag.

I'd be careful sending this week. It took our Christmas cards over a week to get to spots in the same state. Sending the 26th should be safe.

We're date twins! We sent our invites last Saturday and people were contacting me Monday that they'd received them...we've already gotten a few RSVPs back. For me, I needed it off my checklist.

Buy your stamps now, they are going up after the new year.

First class stamps are 47 cents for the first ounce.

The USPS has asked for an increase to 49 cents around the middle of January.

So, buy your stamps next week and mail your invitations then.

Mac C, don't start calling your guests until your RSVP date has passed.

Costco stamps are cheaper than the post office. We sell 100 stamps for 46$ versus 48-49$ or so
