Sending a wedding invitation to the President???

T&J, on June 11, 2010 at 2:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

I've always wondered if I would receive a letter of congratulations, if i actually sent an invitation to the President of the United States?

Has anyone done this, or thought about doing it??

I actually knew of a couple who invited President and Mrs. Reagan to their wedding. (This was waaaaay back in 1984, or something) They actually received a beautiful note of best wishes/congratulations from the First Lady's office, which the bride had framed, along with her wedding invitation.

I think the White House gets hundreds (if not thousands) of wedding invitations a year, and I think there is a standard response from the First Lady's Social Secretary on them. But hey! Why not!

Yes! We're sending President Obama an invitation. The guy who printed my invites told me to send one to him. He and his wife sent an invite to Clinton and got a decline back, but it was "signed" by the president..or looked like it anyway. They have it in a frame now.

I did it and I actually received a note of congrats! Not handwritten, but still official. Smiley smile You have to wait 6-12 weeks?
