Send-off question

KimandLarry, on September 30, 2019 at 10:11 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5

So, I'm surprising my hubby with a Lightsaber send off. But I've recently been thinking of doing it a different way. His mom and aunt will be leaving the reception after dinner, they're not staying for the dancing, and a few other guests from his side of the family will probably leave around that time as well due to not liking alcohol. So I'm thinking of doing it during the recessional instead. I'm thinking of having the people on the end of the pews hold them during the ceremony, then as we start back up the aisle, have them stand and hold them over us as we walk out. Another reason for doing this is that I want the photographer to capture this but I don't think she should have to stay til the very end. The only issue I see is that the ceremony is going to be at 5 so it will still be light outside. Thoughts?

I think it's a perfectly good idea. You would still get the gist of the whole thing without it being super dark. This seems like the best option so that everyone will still be at the wedding and your photographer can capture the moment.

Could you do it with the lights dimmed as you enter the reception? Unless the reception is also outside.

I think it could work. The only other option I could think of would be to use them as the entrance into the reception.

The ceremony is in the courtyard, reception inside. I'll just have to find some that really light up well enough to see the lights in the photos.
