Semi-destination wedding: did you get your dress steamed professionally, steam it yourself or just let it hang?

Sharyl, on September 25, 2022 at 2:59 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
Tips for taking wrinkles out of dress/veil? We are from Northern California but wedding is in Southern California. I haven’t found a place in SoCal to steam by dress but I was thinking of steaming it myself. Any recommendations??

I’m honestly thinking of buying a hand steamer from Walmart just for day of and then returning it 😝

I am going to steam mine. I got this 2-in-1 steamer/iron and it’s awesome! I plan to use it to remove the creases in the tablecloths as well.

Some have mentioned having the dress hung up in the bathroom so the shower will give some moisture and help remove the wrinkles. That unit that doubles as a steamer and iron sounds like it would be handy. Maybe can avoid some ironing too.

Well sounds like there isn't a davids bridal in that area, because they steam gowns even if you didn't buy the dress there. I would say you can get a steamer and do it yourself or have a bridal party member or parent help with it. They also have a spray called wrinkle release that you could use in a pinch.

Echoing the above points about using a hand steamer, and I'd add to 1) practice using the steamer beforehand just to make sure you know how to use it and won't accidentally damage your wedding dress and 2) steam it the night before, starting at the innermost layer and work your way out, and then let it hang overnight. That way it's one less thing to worry about in the morning, or you can hit any trouble spots again if needed.
