Well, i thought i had this down pretty pat after our wedding, but i was mistaken.

Hubby and i have a wedding coming up of one of his friends. The wedding will be outdoors at a sprawling new england manor on the coast. Its a large wedding according to my husband, about 200 people, on the estate's lawn on a saturday evening.

The invite says.. attire: semi casual. ive heard of casual... ive heard semi formal, formal, black tie, etc.... but semi casual is a new one. What does it mean? Is it the same thing as semi formal? Is it some odd, unspecific middle ground between casual and semi formal? What the heck do we wear?

Googling this topic offered no definitive answer, so I'm turning to WW for help.

Holy necro, Batman. This post is from May, you realize? 🤔.l

at any rate, the invite said “semi casual”, not semi formal, so no... you don’t have to describe semi formal, as that’s not what the invite said.

Maybe treat it like business casual? To me that means dress pants, a blouse, and a blazer/cardigan, or dress or skirt/blouse that would be worn in an office setting. For men a dress shirt/dress pants or khakis and a nice shirt. I would say that jeans aren't appropriate.

When in doubt you could always see if there is more information on the wedding website (if there is one).

I had a rustic laid back BBQ wedding and when I was asked by people what to wear I said business casual. I didn't want people to feel like they had to wear suits, but I also didn't want people showing up in jeans or jorts.

semi casual i would consider as knee length dress or long, no swag low hanging jeans or pants on anyone. dress polo shirt or blouse. dressy pressed jeans , no tears and button shirt. for women , no tank top, no exposed bellies of any size{gross even if pregnant) all guest should know how to dress for weddings and not like you are going to the neighborhood bar. sorry for getting too graghic. being hispanic , this is what I see in all the weddings i have been too.
