Self-isolation?

Natalie, on March 24, 2020 at 12:26 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 6

Are there anyone who is self-isolating? Me&my FH have to do so as he came back from his business trip in Germany. It is sooo boring to stay in! I don't plan my wedding much yet (I'm starting in August) but I'm considering to do that because otherwise I have no idea on what to do, haha. When did you start your planning and how do you entertain yourselves if you are self-isolating?

Past bride, but currently self-isolating due to “Stay at Home” order in Southern California.

We got engaged a couple of days after Thanksgiving 2018 and started our venue search first week of December of that same year. Before the new year, we had already booked our photographer and venue. Even with a 15-month engagement, I still found myself scrambling for last minute things like napkin rentals 3 weeks before the wedding. 😂

Also a past bride and I can tell you it’s never too early. Make your list of all the things you will need. I would book all major vendors ASAP. With the cornonavirus many weddings will be pushed into next year and vendors will get booked quickly. Enjoy your time and use it to your benefit because things will get busy soon enough.

My fiancé spent the past 14 months on an assignment in Asia. His company was able to get him out before things got really bad. Then he self quarantined as a precaution and that was tough knowing that he was down the street and I couldn't see him for two weeks. Now we are both in the house since our state currently has a stay home restriction. I've been using this time to organize things at home and wedding plan. We had to postpone our wedding to the fall so now I'm looking at inspiration for fall weddings.
It's never to early to start planning! You could look online and get ideas for venues you may be interested. We got engaged Nov 2018 and in March/April of last year we started looking at venues and quite a few already had the date we wanted booked. Hope that helps!

It's never too early! You can look at some aesthetic boards to get ispired or look for some details of decoration. And don forget about the dress! It is ever too early for looking for a dress! Smiley smile I'm also self-isolating and I'm working remotely (retouching photos, making Smartshow 3d slides for the website of my company, and so on). But planning the wedding is much more fun!

DH was working until Thursday, when his job finally closed due to NY closing all malls. My job furloughed me last Monday, so we've been self-isolating for a while. We're also under a Stay At Home order in NJ.

It's hard. I'm an introvert, but after a while, you just want to interact with other humans!

Today (the 24th) was our 7 month married mark... and we managed to go to the grocery store/a short walk. And then we both collapsed for the rest of the day. We live in a city, so it's super stressful just dodging other people, even when the streets are relatively empty. DH actually went into the supermarket alone, because it's so tiny.

We made ice cream with our new mixer's ice cream attachment, so we're viewing quarantine as a "hey, we can use the wedding gifts!" kind of time. We're trying to deep clean our apartment, corner by corner... and video chatting everyone.
I dearly, dearly love my DH. I'm so glad I'm not alone right now.

....We are also already at the state of self-isolation that we have had meltdowns, crack-ups, and the inevitable "oh, wow, I really have to spend the next MONTH alone with ONLY YOU???" moments. (Said in love, but also exasperation.)

    As for you?

START PLANNING. Research is a huge part of wedding planning, and you'll be surprised how much money you can save when you do good research!
Though, not going to lie... if I don't end up pregnant at the end of this.... I'll be very Put Out.
