Self conscious of arms in dress

Danielle, on April 25, 2023 at 6:17 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 10
Hi everyone,
I absolutely love my dress, but I am struggling with how I feel about my arms. Is anyone else dealing with this that has any advice on how to get past it? Self conscious of arms in dress 1

I've hard the same thoughts about my arms, and I am convinced arms are just weird looking. 😂

I struggle with my arms as well. I want to get a long-sleeved or 3/4 dress for the sole purpose of covering them. I also am going to wear a cape instead of a veil, so that might somewhat hide my arms as well. If you really love your dress, I feel you should stick with it.

I’m the same way and had short sleeves added to my dress. An experienced Seamstress will be able to do so. You can also add a Bolero to cover up,

I HATE my arms but am going with straps for sleeves. I’ve noticed in recent pictures that if I hold my arms a certain way, it makes them look less like sausage barrels hanging from my shoulders lol. A good photographer will know how to work around your insecurities, just let them know (I’m warning mine about my arms and my persistent double chinning thanks to my round cheeks).

I got a little bolero jacket to wear! It was 3/4 length sleeves but there are plenty of ones out there with different lengths. I ended up feeling comfortable enough to not wear it the whole time so I got pictures without it but I too was self conscious about my arms. And honestly I really ended up liking a lot of the photos I got where I wasn’t wearing it Self conscious of arms in dress 2

Recently I’ve been on a bit of a body acceptance journey and I’ll say it’s totally changed my life. I realized that absolutely no one is going to notice the things about my body that I notice and the biggest critic of my body will always be me. And if people do notice those things it shouldn’t matter to me because the only opinion that truly matters is my own. I do still have some moments where I get self conscious but I am much more free than I used to be. My body is simply a vessel and what matters is who I am as cheesy as that sounds lol.

But yes, if it makes you feel better maybe try to find a jacket you like. I tried a few and ended up liking this one I bought very last minute from the UK. Also your dress is gorgeous!

You look amazing! But I have the same issue as well so I ordered a chiffon shrug to wear with my dress.

The bolero would be a good option that you then could choose to drop or don depending on your mood. Also, like Taylor mentioned, people won't notice things the way you do. But another option is possibly upper arm bracelets.

I know it can be bothersome but I just ended up literally being like: it’s my body. And I love it and I love me. Just as I am.

Of course it’s your wedding day and so if you just can’t get it out of your head I agree with the ladies above about a bolero. It looks very pretty and is also thin looking so you shouldn’t be over heated either. And it’s easily removable along with potentially cheaper than having to hire a seamstress for any thread work. Of course it’s all up to you and I would weigh options.
Weigh the options of what you think would look best with your dress as well as what you believe would make you feel the most beautiful.
I personally don’t think you should add anything because it could possibly take away from your dress and it’s overall look.
But again, that’s just my opinion and it’s not my dress nor my wedding day.
So it’s up to you as to what you prefer for your day.
    Hope that helped.
Best of luck with everything And best wishes with your marriage 🖤🥂🖤

    PS
    Just thought of this lol

something I think a lot of dresses do look good with are the small off the shoulder draped Pieces. So either made of fabric or just plain chiffon. I think plain ivory chiffon draped just a bit past your shoulders would look stunning. And should cover the areas you’re most conscious about. I considered doing that for my wedding dress. But between budget along with then finding some body positivity for myself/enjoying my dress immensely as is: I didn’t think I needed it.
Up to you though. Weigh the options and see what you think is best 🖤🖤
