Seeking advice on dress underthings!

Jennifer, on May 14, 2019 at 6:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
Hello ladies! I was lucky enough to buy my wedding dress off the rack in my size from David’s! I’m getting married October 4, so we’re still about 5 months out, but I like to plan ahead Smiley smile

The girl helping me at David’s recommend I wear a corset and a line slip under my dress, and I am probably going to wear shape wear as well. I think instead of a corset, I will ask my alterations person to add cups to the bust, and obviously she will hem it, adjust the straps to my arms, add a bustle etc.

My question is, do you think I need the a line slip or is it just a hassle? Is it a good idea to have her sew cups into the dress? Is the shapewear worth it? Thanks in advance!

I never liked sewn in cups. Harder for resale when you alter. Def do the line slip.

The only reason to do the slip would be if you want your skirt to be fuller. It looks lovely and just right to me, but you could poof it out a bit more if you wanted to. I think you should just have cups sewn in and forego the slip or any shapewear. You look amazing and don’t need the shapewear for one thing. For another, I think you’ll be most comfortable if you can eliminate all the extra “underthings” and just be “free”. 😉

Shapewear can be cumbersome. I would only wear it with a fitted dress.

My dress was a different shape but thought I'd offer some advice on shapewear and under things. Lol
I had cups sewn in and only wore a thong. I was so comfortable all night and didn't sweat like crazy. Just a thought about comfort.
You look fantastic and don't need shapewear or a slip in my opinion. As pp mentioned, you'll be "free" 😂

You and that dress look amazing already. But if you're worried about the bust, add cups and tailor the rest. It doesn't look like you need a slip at all.

    Date twins!!

I bought a slip off amazon and it is perfect and puffs the dress out just enough. Good luck!

I purchased a slip with a wire from DHgate it has actually helps puff my dress out and it helps me walk better because my dress has a slip built in but it’s so hard to walk

I would get a slip and sewn in cups. You look gorgeous and don’t need shape wear if you don’t want it. You need the slip because while your dress looks very full and pretty here, it’ll probably close in without a slip as you walk and move because your attendant probably fluffed the dress for you to get the full effect. If you want it looking like the pic you posted all night, the a-line slip helps achieve that.

I got an A line slip under mine because I wanted the dress to stay puffy and not to stick between my legs while I’m dancing or walking

I didn't need a slip with mine, but I tried one on that had a small hoop in it and it made a huge difference, it kept all the layers of fabric off my legs, it was easier to walk and instantly cooler because the layers weren't touching my legs. You might like something like that if you want a set shape. You look fantastic in your dress, and the shapewear may just make you hot, and you totally don't need it!
