Section of a song vs the whole song?

Kimberly, on May 5, 2020 at 8:16 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5
I don’t know how long it will take me to walk down the aisle at my venue. With certain songs i like if they’re a few minutes and it doesn’t take that long for me (from start to finish) to get to the alter then they’ll be faded out and what if they don’t get to my favorite line of why I chose to walk down to it. Should I just start the song where I would hear my favorite part/reason for choice or would that sound weird because it’s not a gradual start? I feel like I’m the only one in the world who’s thought of this because I can’t find it ANYWHERE on the internet of someone asking something along these lines before.
HELP 😩😅

Same vision I have for the wedding party song I chose or want to use. The first verse is all stuff guys like ( for groomsmen to walk to that part) chorus and then second verse is what girls like and then the end of it the part I want to be heard is “if I’m being honest your first & my last name would just sound better together”
I LOVE that part for just me but I don’t want to walk down to that part/same song. And if I change that to my song as a whole I feel like I would have to play the whole thing and it will be cut off or sound weird if I just cut to that part for my walk. I hope I made sense and I’m sorry if it didn’t! 😬

My son is preparing my songs for the ceremony. He perfectly patch one song to another one, adjust the volume so the walk to the “altar” is louder that the background musics the louder again for the walking away song. He did everything with the mac app called music, I think.

We didn't do this for any of the ceremony music, but the song we wanted to enter to in the reception doesn't really start the beat we wanted until like 30 seconds in, so our DJ just started that song at that time. We just told him the exact time into that song we wanted and it wasn't a problem. I'm sure if you talk to your DJ, they should have no problem starting the song at a certain part.

Hi! Musician here! You are not crazy at all - this is incredibly common. Just let whoever is doing your music know your vision. There are tons of ways to seamlessly patch together parts of a song or multiple songs you want to include. If you are having live music, the musicians should be able to play a 10-15 seconds of an "intro" that goes with the song you've chosen, then get to the part you really want to walk down the aisle to! Most weddings I've played it ends up being about 30 seconds or less for the bride to get all the way down the aisle.

If you have a DJ, they should be able to do that pretty easily. Tell them the time you want to start, and it'll be faded out when you get there. It would be helpful to have an idea of how long your walk will be (30 seconds is a really long time). I think mine was like 20 seconds, but I was lost in my husbands eyes the moment the doors opened. And I spent FOREVER picking the perfect song.

Unless you are getting married in a church with an aisle the length of half a football field, the entrance will only take a few seconds to a minute at most. So using a section of a song is perfectly acceptable. The attendants and parents enter to different music anyway to allow the drama of the bride walking in.
