Secrets Wild Orchid vs Iberostar Grand Rose Hall Jamaica

We just went to Secrets Wild Orchid in September and it was amazing! We did the preferred club and it was worth every penny. We had such a wonderful time and are planning on going back for our anniversary! I'd be happy to answer any questions for you!

Is iberostar for families? For some reason I thought it was and secrets was more couples-oriented.

Never been to either but secrets was offering 50% off at their silver sands resort so I booked!

@Janae all adults is the best way to go. When we travel we only go to all adult resorts.

We attended a friend's wedding at Wild Orchid and enjoyed our time on the resort. They had good food, service was great and the resort was clean and safe. This was in 2013, but I'm sure things have only gotten better. The jerk chicken cart they bring around is amazing! Also, if you decide to do anything off the resort, we booked a couple tours with Your Jamaican Tour Guide and had a great experience with them. It's a private tour company so you don't share a big bus with multiple people. They pick you up at the resort and have different tours you can choose from on their site. But they will let you customize it as well.

Just wondering if you decided on a resort?? I'm also trying to decide between the two. I've actually been to Secrets before and I though it was nice but I honestly didn't love the beach. Now I'm really confused and wondering if I should stick with what I know, at least I know that I'm getting or try something new.

I spent a few days at Secrets Wild Orchid for a work trip. It was amazing. The food was very good. The cool thing too is if you go on a snorkeling trip, through certain companies, they can pick you up right at the resort (there's a little dock over near where a lot of the restaurants are). If you want more "quiet" I would suggest staying on the Secrets St. James side; The Secrets Wild Orchid side tends to be a little more active.

Just an FYI, the bathrooms are more open. I know this bothers some people and some people it doesn't. There is a glass door to the toilet and a glass door to the shower and then a curtain dividing the bathroom from the rest of the room.

Preferred Club Privileges is a hyperlink. You can then see the added amenities for preferred club vs. the standard Unlimited-Luxury.

I still have not decided. I check Trip Advisor faithfully for reviews and the ones for Secrets Wild Orchid have had some negative ones. And I also discovered that Wild Orchid gets crowded with passengers from cruise ships who are able to purchase a "day pass." I think we are now leaning toward Iberostar being the only negative I really have come across is the policy on dining reservations (they have to be booked well in adavnce-like prior to arriving) and the room decor is not as modern as WO.

Hmm.. that's interesting. I noticed a few people from Cruise Ships (they are given different colored towels) but didn't notice that it was overrun at Secrets Wild Orchid. Not having to make reservations at the restaurants was also a big plus for me. I just went to dinner when I wanted to go. Good luck with your decision! I'm sure you'll be happy no matter what
