Second Videographer vs. Second Photographer

Ana, on May 23, 2018 at 12:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 23

Hey everyone, so we found the company we are using for photo and video the day of our wedding and the package we are going with gives us the option of a second videographer OR a second photographer at no extra charge. I honestly can't decide! My fiance and I have gone back and forth with it and we are okay with either.

I was wondering what some of you all think? Would you rather have a second photographer or a second videographer for your wedding? Is it better to have more photos or more video clips? Those who are married, thinking back, is there something you wish you had more of: pictures or more video clips? HELP. Smiley smile

Photographer . I think the videographer will capture all the special moments on film. The first dance nuptials etc they know exactly where to be .With photography some of those moments are unplanned .

A second photographer will be more beneficial, IMO.

I've been thinking about this, too. Our videographer's package comes with two cameras, but our photographer's package does not. I am toying with the idea of paying to add a second photographer. I'm most concerned about catching our first look down the aisle - his first time seeing me, and my first time seeing him. I think that will be magic!

Photographer. Photos are easier to view after the wedding and you can do more with them.

Do their packages promise you more pictures or footage depending on which one you choose? I guess I'd choose video, since the video is more important to me. I've also seen plenty of photographers get amazing pictures with just one of them, since they can move around and take so many pictures at once. But with video, they are filming so they have to be slower and steadier when moving.

Definitely photographer. We aren't even having a videographer, but I would rather have more pictures.

Our package promises 300 photos, video from start to finish, which includes ceremony and reception, and also a highlight video. But yes! I see what you are saying about the video being a little more time consuming and harder to work with and pictures can be shot in an instant. Thanks for your advice! Smiley smile

The more videographers you have, the more the photographer will be free to take artistic and creative photos vs trying to just capture every moment. We are having a husband and wife videography team. Videography is more important to me though - we are very sentimental people and the moments on film are more valuable to me as I'm an only child with aging parents and my kids are there etc

PHOTOGRAPHER. You're lucky you're getting a videographer too. But the end of the day, you and your guests will look at photos more. The photographers can divide and conquer (getting ready vs. decor shots, family vs. guest shots) and even when they shoot the same event (ceremony), each will capture different points of view.

Hands down the photographer. When I was doing wedding photography we always had 2 of us which helped us capture things going on in different areas. Before the ceremony one of us was with the bride and one with the groom. Then in different areas of the venue for the ceremony like one in front and one in back to get more angles. Then in the reception one would focus on capturing the bride and groom while the other got the guests and fun other things going on. We had so many brides so thankful for the shots of the guests since they didn't get to spend a lot of time individually with them.

Plus with photographs you can print them off in a book or post online with easier viewing than a 2nd video.

For me I would choose 2 videographers. I actually will have 2 of each. The only reason that I went with 2 videographers though is because my FH is deaf and our whole ceremony will be done in Sign Language. I also wanted to make sure that there were no issues with ensuring thag any speeches, toasts, etc have a view of the person speaking as well as the ASL interpreter. Other than that reason I would have been fine with 1 videographer

I would do the photographer. The videographer is there to tape the special moments or the two of you where and the photographers would be able to capture all sorts of moments between guests and also when you and FH aren't imediately next to each other. My sister also liked have 2 because the one was with bride/bridesmaids taking getting ready pictures and the other was able to be with the groom/groomsmen. I wish I had the opportunity to have 2 AND a videographer!

Definitely photographer! I see the value in both, but I think one videographer is enough for most weddings. I'd love to get my groom's reaction to me walking down the aisle at the same time as another photographer captures my own reaction!
