Second Trial Run of Centerpieces

Marabeth, on September 11, 2020 at 3:06 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 12
How does this one look? I’m not sure I like these either. My son wants more silver but the silver didn’t really turn out silver even though I used a metallic paint to dye it. I LOVE the blue ones and honestly would do them in all blue but I’ve made so many red and it probably needs the balance. I’m not loving the baby’s breath but I’m not a fan of baby’s breath in general. Second Trial Run of Centerpieces 1Second Trial Run of Centerpieces 2

Both look great. You could do a mix of them on the tables.

Thanks! I didn’t think of doing a mix. I’m making 12 so that’d be easy to do. I appreciate you guys’ input!

I love it. I wouldn't use baby's breath (but I'm also not a fan of it). Plus it's texturally very different from the rest of your flowers and I think that might be visually distracting a bit. Other than that, I think it's great!

Thank you! Everyone I asked suggested it so I tried it. I really don’t like baby’s breath in general so I hated adding it to the centerpieces but I wanted to try it. I definitely think I’ll be removing it.

I love these centerpieces! Particularly the comic vases. Did you make those too? I agree that the baby’s breath looks a bit off for some reason. What would you think about mini green foliage of some kind? Or could you make mini flower buds to go in between the bigger flowers? That way it’d be the same material/style/look but give it more dimension in the bouquet.

I think it looks great! And I also like the silver. Looks white-ish in some light but definitely silver in others. Maybe you can use a metallic silver sharpie and shine up the stems or the edges of the petals?

I could. I have some mini buds in red because we originally just planned to use red. I saw some eucalyptus and considered maybe doing that. I did make them. I made little wooden boxes and then covered them in superhero fabric we got from Amazon.

Yeah, the silver didn’t turn out like I hoped even though I used metallic silver acrylic paint for the dye. I didn’t think about using a sharpie on the edges. That’s a great idea. My 11 year old wants a lot more silver in them but I didn’t exactly like how they turned out. I’ll try the sharpie and see if it makes it better. Thank you!
