Second thoughts on the dress πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Please help and offer thoughts and opinions. I will be getting married in September 2020. I first looked at dresses with my mom and found one that I fell in love with but freaked out when it came to the price. A few weeks later I went to a bridal shop having one of the crazy deals and bought another dress that I really liked because it was only $199. It’s now been long enough where I’m doubting if this is truly what I should do. It’s a great deal and looks very nice but I only get married once! I also recently found out that my fiancé’s family is gifting us with quite a bit more than I ever thought which frees up our budget greatly! Ugh, what do I do?!

The first is my first choice the second is the amazing deal dress.

I think both dresses are beautiful and really similar. I actually think I like the second one better as it has a little more detail.

That was my goal, the first has pockets and comes in lace with a sparkly underlay which is what I was going to do. Both have buttons down the length of the entire back of the dress and down the train. I think the fabric of the first was heavier and made me feel smaller with the added structure. But it was so hard to say no to $199!

I love the first one. It's very elegant and classy on you❀
You look more like a bride, in my opinion.
It's not a deal, if it doesn't make you happy. You are having regrets for a reason. You already made your choice, with your heart.
You are worth it! Follow your heart and gutSmiley smile

Thank you. I think I might go back to the shop, try it back on and really talk numbers. I wanted a few changes (buttons to corset) and want to know that means in terms of price. But I felt so amazing in it. And I think I could sell the first one for at least what I paid for it if I ended up going that way.

Both dresses are beautiful and very similar! The option is yours in the end but getting such beautiful dress for such a great price is a steal! I’ll use the money for the gift towards something else but that’s me. You need to love your dress!

I loveeeeeee that first dress...it's gorgeous, very clean cut and has that sexy sleekness to it 😍😍 They're definitely very similar if not almost the same but that first one just looks like a better fabric maybe (I'm no expert on fabric by the way) But, it also sounds like you just got that dress because it was an amazing deal and kinda looked like the one you fell in love with. How much was the first one if you don't mind me asking?

I totally agree on sticking to the budget but now that his family is helping out more can you squeezeeeee it in? They say dress regret is real and I totally believe it but I think it's a feeling that we all have after we purchased the dress. We do only get this one day and I say go for dress #1 but if it'll set you back financially don't do it. Have you thought about trying to shop once more? You may find something else that you actually love that is in your budget. I hope things work out for you. You still look amazing in the 2nd one. I love the belt and once it's all fitted it'll be even better! Good luck!

It’s definitely better fabric. The first dress was $1800 I believe (I was trying to stick around $****) and I wanted some changes made so probably a little more. I think I could definitely justify and squeeze it at this point and am wrapping my head around going back to that same salon to maybe try it on again, try on some other things that they might have gotten in that are similar, and really talk more about money. It had been my first time shopping and thinking about spending $2000+ on a dress was mind boggling at the time.

ince then we’ve found some killer deals on photography, venue, and his parents are paying the majority of food and dj so we should have enough to put a little more into this. Prior to me getting the other dress I had talked to my parents about using a little of the stock money my grandfather put aside for me towards it to get a little piece of him there. I just have a serious weakness for a good deal. The one I bought is originally over $1000 so it’s not a cheap dress but....

They’re both so similar and gorgeous on you! Have you tried on accessories with the one you bought? The completed look can do wonders. Then if you still can’t get #1 out of your mind, go get it.

I do love number 1; however, I personally could not spend $1800+ on a dress that looks almost identical to one I already bought for $200. I would keep the $200 dress and see about adding more structure to the dress and a sparkle layer under the skirt to mimic the 1st dress. It won't be a perfect match, but it could make you feel better about not going with the expensive dream dress.

All that being said... If you can afford it, go for your dream dress!! The $200 dress is such a steal that I'm sure you could recoup all your money, if not make a profit. You deserve to feel beautiful in what is going to be your special (and very photographed) day.

I love those ideas! Maybe I could take it into a seamstress first to see what they think and could do to make it truly mine. If they think they can work with it awesome, gives me another option. Thank you!!
