Second round of dress shopping

Hanna, on July 19, 2020 at 8:15 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5
So I technically already bought and paid for a dress in full. I have been having regrets since the day I bought it and with having to postpone our wedding until next year, I decided to let myself go shopping again just to make sure I really love my dress, and if not, maybe get a new one!!! i’m nervous it might make my indecisiveness worse... does anyone have any advice??? TIA

Did you try different styles the first time? I would try different styles from the dress you had originally gotten

That’s a good idea! Start with different silhouettes and once you’ve narrowed it down to the fit, start to think about details and embellishments you like or don’t like.

Bring the original dress with you to the appointment. Try it on first and go over with the consultant what you like and dislike about it. Compare anything else to it in real time. Bit definitely bring it so you don't have to rely on memory

I had major dress regret with the first dress I bought after the alterations were finished. I went yesterday and bought another dress with only 27 days left until my wedding. Literally the best decision I’ve ever made. If you have second thoughts, get a new dress!

I say, go for it!!! As others suggested, take your original dress with you for comparison. You won't be able to tell how different dresses feel on you unless you have your purchased dress with you. I can tell you from my experience, I didn't love my dress and 3 1/2 years later it still makes me sad... I got married 8 weeks after I got engaged so everything happened so quickly (my husband was deploying and we had been together for 8 years and knew we wanted to get married so I made it happen). I went to a few different bridal shops and tried on several different dresses. The one I got is very pretty and I liked it, but i didn't love it. My mother and sisters weren't with me when I bought it (my mother-in-law and sister-in-law were). We went to a store to find a dress for my mother-in-law actually and I ended up trying 2 different gowns on. The consultant was so sweet and kind to me! She called the owner of the salon, who was in NYC for bridal fashion week, and told her my story. Not even an hour after I left the store, the consultant called me back and said they'd sell the dress to me off the rack for a discount. The dress is from an Australian designer and normally would have taken 6-8 months to get in stock. Because they were so kind to me, I needed a dress, and I liked that one, I decided to buy it. I liked it at the time, but my seamstress couldn't alter it to fit me quite right (it was a bit big in the bust area). I never loved my dress. I wish I had gone shopping again and got something I loved. So if you don't love your dress, you may have buyer's remorse for years to come.

With that being said, if you loved your dress when you bought it, don't second guess yourself just because you "may" find something else. There's are thousands of dresses out there and there's definitely another one you're bound to like! But if you loved your dress from the beginning, there's probably a reason why you chose it Smiley winking Trust your gut, whatever it says!!!
