Second guessing your dress?

Carrie, on December 11, 2023 at 8:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
How many brides second guessed their bridal gown after purchasing it?

I do love the dress I chose, though multiple times a day I have to look at the photo of me wearing it, trying to make sure it was the right one. I chose it when shopping alone for a dress. I'm worried their opinion would have mattered, or would it have? Does it?

You made the right choice in shopping alone for your dress. I know it's normal to second-guess an outfit, I do it all the time! But at the end of the day, your opinion on what looks good is the only one that really matters. Others will surely try to give you their opinion, but don't let that sway you - if you feel confident and comfortable, that's all that counts. It's nice that my wife considers my thoughts on her dresses.

I would suggest you stop looking at the pictures of you in your dress. Obsessively looking at them is going to numb you to the excitement of wearing it. Delete the photos and trust that you made the right choice. And once the dress arrives, don't keep trying it on! Put it on for alterations appointments and that's it. Don't self sabotage the magic of wearing it on your wedding day!

I'm just worried that it's not THE dress after trying on 15 dresses and getting discouraged.

If you didn’t get the feeling that your dress was “the one”, and you just settled for it because you were sick of trying on dresses, then I could understand why you are questioning it. I guess I would first think about what your options are. Are you able to return the dress? Or, if it hasn’t come in yet, are you able to cancel the order? If not, is it within your budget to purchase a new one?
