Second guessing your dress?

Jasmine S., on February 21, 2022 at 10:35 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 4 18

If you spend too much time on wedding forums like me, you'll see that dress regret is very common. Who else has felt it? Post your lovely dresses here if you need some words of encouragement from the community!

As for me, I bought my dress wayyyy back in 2020 before we postponed. When I tried on dresses, it came down to either this or a ballgown; I would have been happy with either, but picked this one because my family and friends liked it a bit more.
I just went looking through the pics of all the other dresses I tried on, and it made me think of what could have been. I also feel my "hip dips" don't look great in it. My wedding is in less than 3 months, so I don't have time to buy something new anyway. I don't want another dress, I do love this one when I'm wearing it (especially with the veil). But some positive words from others would be nice!Second guessing your dress? 1Second guessing your dress? 2

It looks beautiful! In all honesty, even after looking for them based on your comment about hip dips, I still couldn't see the problem. You are going to look stunning in that dress!

Glad to hear it's all in my head! I just realized I was wearing different undergarments in the two sets of pics, so that may be the reason.

Ugh, I hear you - I feel like we're all our own worst critics! But honestly, you have a beautiful figure and that dress is *chef's kiss* on it, I promise!

Your dress is beautiful, I especially love the top and this and the veil are awesome together.

It sounds like you're second guessing your dress because of the postpotnment. I Mean: had you got married on the original date, would you have a dress regret today, looking back at the wedding photos?

The one thing that really concerns me is: "I would have been happy with either, but picked this one because my family and friends liked it a bit more." : I would think that you loved the ballgown a bit more but still picked the one your family loved more to please them or because you needed for their approval. Am I wrong?

At the end of the day, the most important is not the dress itself but the woman in it and especially the way she's wearing it. This is what will make beautiful photos and make your folks say "how handsome she is in it".

Your dress is beautiful! It is a very flattering cut and shape for you, I don't see the hip dips. However, I know when I look at pictures of myself in things I find faults. What did you like about the other dresses that you don't about this one? Perhaps you can add accessories or if you still are just feeling meh look at something like Amazon. Maybe you will find something else in the time frame you need it.

The top is my wedding dress and the bottom is a dress I bought to wear to the reception. Now I'm double thinking the wedding dress and thinking about just wearing the reception dress for both because I'm very self conscious and I don't think I like having my boobs and upper arms hanging out. But I'm going to force myself to wear the wedding dress because I've spent the money and I think it will produce the wedding photos I want in the end...I'm just a mess. Lol.

    (I posted twice, yes, lol.)

I love your wedding dress. I think it looks great on you and I really love the classic and simple look it gives. I think the big thing for all of us is seeing everything put together with the correct undergarments if we are wearing any and the makeup and hair done. Once the whole look comes together I think a lot of us will be happier and not double think ourselves.

I love your dress! i think it's natural to second guess it when you look at anything too long in general haha because it starts to get you thinking about "am i sure this is ok enough?" or you start noticing little tiny things that may make you doubt.

I love the dress! Very classy and elegant it’s one of those dresses you’ll look back on and it’s timeless. I also feel the same way it’s to late to change my dress but I always pictured myself in a mermaid not a ball gown but then surprisingly I left my appointment with a ball gown😂 being 4’11 I hope I don’t look like a child bride on my day lol. Ohhhh, let me tell you, I was the QUEEN of being indecisive (most people here on WW probably remember my constant posts of all the gowns I loved, I’m a Hayley Paige fan), it wasn’t until I went and actually tried on some HP gowns that I ended up choosing something entirely different than what I thought I’d pick (I thought I’d end up with a ballgown or a-line)… it was an underdog choice but to be honest, you could tell just by my facial expression that it was MY dress. Try to remember the feeling you got when you first tried it on… and definitely don’t compare other gowns to the one you’ll be wearing, you’ll drive yourself insane! I see gowns today that make me go, “Maybe I should have tried that on…” but then I remember my setting, venue, and the overall vibe I’m going for with my look and current dress and why I love it so much. Don’t get caught up in your doubt! 😊😊😊😊Second guessing your dress? 11

You look amazing in your dress! I love how sleek and timeless it is. I think you are going to enjoy looking at your wedding photos for many years to come. And I don’t see any hip dips! You have a beautiful figure and the dress compliments you so well. You are going to be a gorgeous bride!

But, I totally understand the feeling of second-guessing your decision, especially purchasing far in advance of your wedding. I purchased my dress about a month after I got engaged, before we had made any other decisions about our vision for the wedding. It was really a spur-of-the-moment thing because my mom was visiting from out of town. I knew it would be our only opportunity to go dress shopping together but really didn’t expect to buy anything that day. I found a dress I felt really comfortable in and went with it. But, as the rest of our wedding vision came together, I started to worry if it was too much for our small backyard wedding. I also put on a little bit of weight after ordering my dress and could barely zip it up when it finally came in. Now I’m working out five days a week and the dress still fits differently than when I first bought it because my muscles (especially my butt and thighs) have bulked up! Oh well. Too late to change it now so I just have to rock it!
Here is my dress and my earrings (which I honestly love more than the dress). I’ll be wearing my hair up with different (clear rose) glasses.Second guessing your dress? 13

Please wear your wedding dress! I think you look stunning. Your reception dress is beautiful too, but I worry you might regret not wearing the more elaborate gown on your special day. Don’t second guess yourself! You are going to be an amazing bride.
