Second guessing alterations

Emma, on July 24, 2020 at 10:07 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
Hello brides.
I am starting to second guess my alterations timeline. I went by davids bridal recommendation and had my first alterations appointment June 27th. I go in today (July 24th) at 4 pm. I am not sure if I am actually picking up my dress or if they are just seeing if it is done or needs more work. I am second guessing the fact that I went so early. My wedding is October 3rd, still a little over 2 months away. If I pick up the dress today I feel like I’ll need to set up another fitting appointment in September to make sure everything is still perfect. I just don’t know what to do and now I’m stressing thinking I was wrong with how soon I set up alterations.
The only thing I can think of is if I pick it up today that I’ll need to try it on constantly to make sure it still fits correctly.

That’s does seem really early. I started alterations around the same time for my 9/12 wedding and I won’t have my final fitting until 8/18 so that we still have time for any final things that need fixed.
Does your weight fluctuate a lot? If not I wouldn’t worry about it too much, but you’ll definitely want to focus on maintaining where you’re at depending on your dress. We put a corset in mine so that it can really be cinched in around my waist where it needed taken in, but it needed more space around my bust. Conveniently, if I lose more weight, it shouldn’t be an issue because it can be adjusted (as long as I don’t lose a ton).

That’s weird that they had you schedule so early.
My wedding is November 21st and I tried to get an appointment in the middle of August before I go back to work and they wouldn’t let me schedule anything more than 2 months before.
So I’ll be going at the end of September 🤷🏼‍♀️

I had my first appointment a couple of weeks ago and my dress will be ready on 8/4 - 2 months prior. I'l try on the dress again towards the end of August and hope it's all still good. I'd take the timeline you can get especially with Covid and people will now be trying to get in while they can.

I'm getting married 10/10 and I had my first appointment on June 24th, where they pinned the top half. My next one is August 13th, where they're going to do the bottom half. I haven't scheduled my final fitting yet, but that will probably be in late September.

This seems very early for alterations. I got married last October and did not even begin alterations until August. That being said, I was not a DB bride, so I guess they do things differently? I had my final fitting and dress pick up 2 weeks before my wedding. If they ask you to take your dress home today, I would ask to make an appointment 2-3 weeks before your wedding to see if any final touches need to be made.

It depends on how many alterations you did, but my first alterations appointment was June 24th, and I got my dress back yesterday, completely finished and ready to take home! If your wedding is so soon they may have rushed the process to make sure you get it back in time. If you are worried just call and talk to them! Smiley smile

That’s true! I’m definitely going to talk to them when I go today. If everything is good today and they want me to take it home I’ll probably make an appointment 3-4 weeks before my wedding to make sure everything this perfect!
