Second Dress Dilemma

Jessica, on August 21, 2020 at 9:23 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

On my first trip to the dress shop, it was the 3rd dress I tried and it was BEAUTIFUL. My mom ended up buying the dress and paying for the alterations. I keep looking at pictures of it to remind myself how beautiful it is but it’s also more form fitting than I ever thought I wanted so all I see in those pictures are my belly and booty getting hugged way too much and it makes me sad because I don’t want to look like that on my wedding day. I was scrolling through Pinterest and found this gorgeous dress at a steal of a price so I bought it. It seems like it will be more form flattering than my current dress plus I’ll be able to sit and hike in it (which I wouldn’t be able to do in my current dress due to how fitted it is). Now I’m stressing myself out about what to do. Again, the 1st dress is perfect but I feel like a cow and I don’t want to hurt my moms feelings nor waste her money...

Take a picture of yourself in both dresses (after alterations) and compare...

How do you "feel" in both dresses, which one speaks to you. The one that calls to you is the one you should go with.

You could wear both. A lot of people wear one dress for the ceremony and the other for the reception.

Wear whichever dress you want. But, if its not the one your mother paid for....pay her back.

Keep in mind who took the photos. I look worse in photos taken by my family, but they’re not photographers. I’ve also found asking them to take video gives be a better judgement of how I really look.

This is the dress my mom bought me. I just ordered the other dress online so I haven’t even seen it yet in person

See if she can take it back or get a refund. If not pick the dress you love and to with it. If not hers maybe look into paying her back. If not wear both. One for ceremony and one for reception

I don't think it looks as form fitting as you described. If you decide to go with the second dress then you should give your mom her money back.

That dress looks good on you! You dont have to worry about your stomach either, not like I do anyway. I'm struggling with deciding if I want a 2nd one or not because I just found out my wedding will likely be held outside due to COVID because our guest list is over 50 people. On 10/3 in Arizona, it's still 90 degress. My big ballgown with multiple layers is going to be HOT.

We haven't seen the 2nd dress but honestly, you dont even need one! You look great in this one!
