Seating Guests at a "Bad Table"

So my reception venue has two "bad tables". That is, they are in a position from which the people sitting there will not be able to see the dance floor or the bride and groom. They are positioned in a beautiful sun-room though. They will be able to interact with lots of other guests, there's just a wall which blocks their view of half the room.

Now, everyone at my wedding is important. And somebody has to sit there. There really isn't anybody we could put there who "deserves it". The room only has a capacity of 108 and we are at full capacity for our guest list.

We have to do assigned tables in order to avoid certain almost inevitable family drama if we don't. (We are in an interracial couple, so we don't want "black tables and white tables" and my fiancee's side has a lot of internal drama so we have to separate some of them)

Any advice on how to make the people at the bad table not feel ticked off?

Sounds like you have something like an L-shaped room. Could you put the dance floor and such where the L comes together and seat people in the wings? Then everyone could see everything important, but maybe not see each other. Might also help to keep the drama people away from each other.

Make sure there are announcements when things are happening so that if the people at the "bad" tables want to see those things they can walk around the corner. I.e. cake cutting, first dance, speeches, etc. The other advantage to serving them first is they will be done eating first and can leave the table to see these things.

Thanks for all the advice! We are sitting friends there for sure. Guess we'll stick with trying to serve them first

Make sure you visit the "bad" tables to greet the guests that feel sperated from the party. I agree friends don't care nearly as much, and if you pick people that are going to be on the dance floor vs sitting down all night that will minimize the amount of time they are hidden away. Also just acknowledge that you know they are bad tables Smiley winking.

I agree with the friends at the bad table. Not only will they forgive you faster, they probably won't even be at the tables most of the night and instead dancing. (ESPECIALLY if there's alcohol!)
