Is not having a seating chart and letting people sit where they want for the reception taboo? I personally think it would be stress free for everyone but am I wrong?

    I didn't think it was a big deal and I wanted to let everyone sit where they want so I didn't have to stress out about another thing, BUT I have heard it makes for a mess. So I plan on just organizing table groups and from there I don't care where they sit at the table.
