Seating Chart

Nagoya, on August 18, 2022 at 8:27 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 23
So, my FH and I have decided to do a seating chart after RSVP deadline, we have received late RSVPs which would not be a problem except they do not have names so we are unsure who they are and where to seat them. Any ideals of how to deal with this?

What if you print out a list of everyone invited, highlight everyone who RSVPed “yes” in one color, anyone who RSVPed “no” in another color, and then reach out to anyone who wasn’t marked down as RSVPing at all to see if the mystery cards belong to them?

Thank you Amanda for the advice😊 I actually did this last night and got a headache. Will try again with a clearer head. I was also thinking about having something say if you cannot find your name you are welcome to choose an open seat. Do you think this would work?

No I think it would result in a lot of confusion and possibly people who can find their Janes acting like they couldn't do they could pick their own seat.

I would ask your fiance with assistance. The two of you together go through them and figure out who you know for sure and then from there maybe you can try and figure out which ones you still need a reply for. Then message or call those you don't have replies for and if they said they sent one then explain how you received several without names and maybe text a pic of the replies without names and they can tell you which one is theirs. We got lucky and only had one without a name and we were easily figured out who it was.

Seating charts and tracking down rsvps can be so daunting and frustrating. I d make a list of everyone you do not have named rsvps for and send a text something along the lines of "Hello ______! Our wedding is quickly approaching and we are so excited celebrate with our loved ones. Our vendors need a final headcount, so please let me know if you can make it! Our apologies if you have already rsvp'd, we have received some rsvps without names. Thanks so much, we look forward to hearing from you soon and hope to see you there!

While it is tempting to just leave some open seats it could lead to chaos with guests sitting in other guests seats, its better to have a list of everyone who ll be attending now so there are no surprises or drama on the day of.

Best of luck to you, hopefully this is a short list for you!

Thank you, I wrote down all names, I am still unsure who they belong to but I am aware they are all my FH’s family soooo they go to the same table either way…made his mother ask around since they are her aunties 😊

For big weddings, a tip for this is to number the RSVP cards to a corresponding list. I know it;s too late for you, but just thought I'd mention it. I guess just put them somewhere with your FI's family!

This probably wouldn't help you now but it may help someone who views this thread later. I agree with the post above. Get invisible marker from amazon and number all of your RSVP cards according to your list! This will save you!

I added an extra table to accommodate for the overflow of guests who failed to rsvp. We called it the overflow 😂 section. So they were seated but did not have specialized name plates.

You just have to ask the main person invited, that because you are doing a seating chart you need full name of their guest , first and last name. I have same issue, just call , text , email , chat lol whatever to get names

I’ve been getting alot of RSVPs with no name as well! And no return address on the envelope. I was also planning on making a list and contacting people who we haven’t heard from as stressful as it may be.

So I wound up writing down all names, checking off all RSVPs with names to them after, I sent out a message that I received some without names and I was able to resolve my issue 😊

I'm going to do this as well with color highlighters we have checked off who we have gotten back and the ones that have texted back. Of who didn't text or received a RSVP card from. And yes girl it can be a headache we are now figuring out the seating chart. So this is a fi al final guest list. Trying to pair ppl they may not know so they can strike up a conversation with those seating at there table

What we are doing, is making cards that say “no rsvp” and they can sit at one table together.
