Seating Chart

Ashley, on June 2, 2021 at 7:46 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

How soon before your wedding did you print the seating chart? I am 24 days out and trying to decide if that is too soon to print.

I made one very early on and I’ve been tinkering it with it as I get RSVPS back. What method of printing are you using?

I think this is definitely the time. It will take a couple days to produce and then probably a week or so to get to you.

Honestly, this is one of the many reasons I prefer escort cards. I printed them at home a few days before the wedding and was able to make changes whem needed because it just meant reprinting the 2 that I needed to change. You can buy cheap blank tented cards by Avery online for like $10 (maybe even less) and then print at home using a free template on their website.

Agree with this. While waiting for replies to come in, work on figuring out who should be seated together. Then modify and finalize it against your final list. You can get solid colored card stock blank tent cards inexpensively on Etsy and have extras just in case. That way you don’t waste money on having to reprint a chart if someone is seated in the wrong place or typos, etc.

It also helps differentiate between meal choices for waiters/caterer if you’re having a plated meal. Each entree choice is a different color that they can see from a distance and easier to read than tiny stickers or stamps.

I printed mine a few days before the wedding. I had my list ready and wanted to wait for any last minute changes. I had mine printed at Staples while I waited.

Do you have all your rsvps in? I think it depends on whether or not you think guests will change their responses. We had a good handful of maybes which was super annoying.
I ordered my escort cards from Etsy around 22 days out and now I'm 9 days out and just had to scramble to reorder them yesterday from Basic Invite (Etsy wouldn't arrive in time) because we had 4 people decide they can come to the wedding now and then another 5 guests say they can't come. So this caused a good 4 tables to be completely rearranged at the last minute. I'm not a DIY person and had a certain vision so making them myself was never in my plans

I printed and DIYed at home 5 days before the wedding. We also had a number of maybes. Depends on your guests and RSVPs but I would print as late as possible.

I printed mine just a few days before.

what PP said is really true though haha cause the idea of escort cards you can print yourself does make a lot of sense since you can change it anytime vs mine was one and done haha

I bought a template from etsy and printed at fedex a week before the wedding. I first wanted to order ours from zazzle, but we had to keep changing seating orders and people were really dragging their feet on their rsvps. I printed it out a week before the wedding and we still had people rsvp late or cancel up until the day before the wedding, so I would wait as long as you could!
