Seating Chart wording

LeLe, on January 6, 2019 at 5:11 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6

I'm about to put together our seating chard board. Was just curious how do you word couples' names on a line? We are having 400 people, no way are we writing out individual names for everybody. I figured if we knew a person better out of the couple, we'd use that person's name to go first. What if we know the couple equally, would it matter who's name goes first? Would there be etiquette that the woman or the man's name goes first?

I am not doing a seating chart. The weddings have been to or events i seen people reserved their seats with foam plate written their last name of their family to go to that table. Two families becoming all one place to celebrate just i hope people be comfortable with each other and no fighting that's what I care about.

Traditionally the woman’s name only goes first for an unmarried couple.

Put Mr first and try to put the names in alphabetical order to advoid 400 people standing around trying to find their name.

I agree with this idea. I would put couples together and everything on one chart in alphabetical order rather than group by table assignment, it will make it much easier for people to find their names.

If you're not getting married until next year then I would wait to do this because you will have no idea of who is actually coming until you get the RSVPs back. You would have to keep changing the board based on the RSVPs you receive. Also, because you plan to have so many guests, I would recommend you do escort cards instead of a seating chart. This will actually help you in regards to the first point too. Having escort cards will make it easier for your guests to find their names and avoid a traffic jam in the area where they'll find their table assignment.

Hey LeLe!! How is your planning coming along? Have you made a decision on the wording for your seating chart?
