Seating Chart (in Microsoft Word) Frame Sizes? Anyone?

RhnCasi419, on September 11, 2015 at 10:13 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

So, after realizing that I set my rsvp date too close to our wedding date, not accounting for printers to personalize escort cards, we have concluded the most cost effective way to do our seating arrangements will be to do a seating chart in a frame instead of escort cards. We have two options: order them now with everyone's name we invited (while still waiting for their replies and not knowing if they will accept or decline); or do a seating chart. I really like the idea of a seating chart anyway, it kind of goes with the historical, woodsy rustic décor of our venue. Is anyone doing this? Anyone downloading seating charts from Word, and if so, what size frame are you using for it?

Each table is going to have the list of names be printed on 5x7 pieces of paper. I DIY'd an old arched window frame into a cork board and each table list will be pinned on it. This will be displayed in an entrance area outside the reception.

I'm not sure if that answers your question or not! Will you be doing 1 large frame for everyone or several individual ones at each table? I've seen some pretty full sized ones on etsy, but no idea how long they take to make.

It certainly helps FutureMrsJohnson. Thank you. I love your cork board idea as opposed to chalk board which is so common.

I was thinking of just the chart displayed with guests names and their seats as you are planning on. Then just a table number at the tables.

If you're printing on your home printer, the largest you can probably do is 8x10, 11x17 max if your printer can do legal size. That is way too small for a seating chart.

FedEx Office and Staples can print stuff within hours if you submit online and while you wait if go in person. The quality is pretty good and you'll be able to print larger than if you do it at home. Check their sites for what sizes they can do and compare that to standard frame sizes.

You can print your own escort cards..took me like 30 minutes to put the names in a word template and print... also only cost me $21...the frames i bought as the favors were about 1.50 each.

ETA: the frame size I used were like 2.25'' squares. i found perforated 2x2'' square labels, and they fit perfectly.

Hahaha, there will be a few chalkboards too, just not at the entrance..... #basic

I've had good luck w/ Staples printing too. Most stores have their own email addy that you can send your files to w/ instructions. They'll reply w/ a price.

We did seating charts, DH hinged two 12X24 frames together and printed the names on 8 1/2 X 11 stock paper. The frames were then placed on a table where everyone was able to see it and find their tables during cocktail hour.

Yes, I planned on sending it off to Staples for printing for a larger size - like the size of poster board I am thinking? Why am I so clueless on this? Not a crafty bride here.

You can do escort cards with Avery tent cards and have it printed at office depot the same day.
