Seating Chart Etiquette

Lisa, on January 15, 2020 at 12:40 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 17

I am starting to work on my seating chart, what is proper etiquette to list someone's plus 1 if you don't know their name? Would I just list Ms. so and so and guest?

You can put "and guest" but I'd just reach out and ask the guest so you can do it by name!

Thank you! I did have one response that put their guests first name, but not last.

I would find out. Whether that’s asking them directly, stalking social media, or asking a friend.

We had a couple people that didn’t provide their guest’s name and we reached out to them directly to find out their name.

We reached out to everyone to find out their guest’s full name.

This might be a dumb question, but what about couples with kids? How would we write that? (We know the kids names)

I would list the child separately on the seating chart or give them their own escort card (whichever you’re doing).

I would really ask them and find out what it is. As for the kids I would make cards for them too.

Yeah, in this situation, I'd most likely reach out and ask for the name.

Just ask them what their plus one’s name is...

I don’t see anything wrong with “and guest” but I think it’s more personal if you ask for their meSmiley smile

Hi! I'm having that same issue, especially if they are bringing 2 guests etc. I guess if they RSVP, then you would have an exact head count. Congrats!!

We did place cards with the table names - for people with children i put "Mr. John Doe and Family"

if it was two people i would put both their first and last names. (if you can find out lol)
