Seating chart cost

We are doing a small destination wedding 50 people, probably go smaller as people start RSVP, but thats the idea. However, the venue we choose that is not the typical caribbean destination wedding venue, and is quick expensive to get married there. But since I grew up in there I always dreamed to get married there and now is happening❤️. Long short story the people that the venue uses for Decor, (we cant choose no one else) well you can say they charge little ridiculess prices for things that Im like ehhhhhh ok? 😒🙄 so I am trying to see if their prices in some things are fair comparing with prices somewhere else. That way I can see what Is worth skipping 👎 and what is a go with 👍 in regards to decor. Now seating chart, I definetly want one, I am really organize. But they send me two options in a proposal where they charge $450-$420+tax (tax in my country are 28% (18% goverment tax, 10% legal service tip). So price comes up to $537-$576 which my mind is like 🤯 for a goddamn seating chart??? Some stuff I can bring my own but since I am flying there I dont think I can make a big seating chart to bring along with me. They showed me a cheaper option that I didnt like. I can ask for more options, but Is this a normal price for seating chart that you pay someone to do? Is there another alternative for seating chart? I need ideas!     That is a rip off. A seating chart may cost that much after multiple reprints and typos moving guests around last second, because you have to start from scratch, but what they are quoting you is classic “let’s overcharge for a wedding times 1000 and no bride will question it because it’s a “standard” wedding expense“ which is how wedding prices have become so astronomically inflated and couples don’t bat an eye or they are told it’s normal and they are stingy/stupid if they think it’s too expensive. Social media and the Wedding Industry have gaslighted couples to believe this is normal and reasonably priced. It’s a never ending cycle and until all couples everywhere say “no we won’t pay that” then it will continue to get worse.



    Price wise, as well as what is most convenient for guests and waitstaff alike, escort cards are least expensive while being much more effective for $100 max. That includes having extra tent cards for typos and needing to move someone last second.

    Yes, everything when you say wedding is ridiculous expensive. And for some vendors my sister had to tell me to tell them the city name, and not the venue name, when is the location, cause I soon they hear the name of the venue they extra mega charge 🥴🤦🏻‍♀️. Mind you in my country a typical hair do is $17 dollars in a salon, and lady cause she saw where the wedding was and my phone number being from the US, told me was $100 per head. (Which is normal prices in the US) but for my sisters that lives over there and are familiar with local prices were like WHAT??? we found a lady now that is doing it for $27 per head, which is extremly cheap for me, and my sisters tells me that a normal prices there is the island. But everything is more than triple when you say wedding is ridiculous. My fiancee is just telling me to compromised a little in the decor, when peices are not worth it, the place it self without any decor is breathtaking. So I am trying to be open mind and find alternative options for things. And I can ship some stuff over there that I can diy or find cheaper here, to saved some money.

    What about escort cards instead of a seating chart? We had escorts cards at our wedding. I person prefer them because a. if there is a last minute change you only have to change one card and b. guests don't have to look through a whole chart to find their name. Escort cards are in alphabetical order by last name so finding your name and what table you're at is a lot easier and quicker.

    Good idea. I didnt know what whats that until the first commenter mentioned. Also looked on pinterest I can do it myself. How did you display yours? If you dont mind me asking. Thinking maybe I can put it in the same table as the guest book? Or no?

    Trying to think of idea, cause that stupid company, when I asked then if I can bring some stuff myself. They told me I can, but they are not allow to handle any decoration that dont come from them. Lol my MOH just told me "dont sweat" since is like a rrally small fsmily wedding. We just ask someone to go put place whatever you bring. Lol.

    So our escort cards didn't look like the traditional ones. Ours looked like tickets to a sporting event. My husband is a huge sports fan so it was one thing he request. I think if you have them in alphabetical order then just give them to someone to display on your behalf then putting them out yourselves wouldn't be all that difficult. Below is how ours were displayed.

    Because of it being (I assume) a spot known for destination weddings, they are going to over charge...and they are REALLY overcharging! For a chart for 50 ppl or less, that's outrageous. Check out pinterest for inspiration to find something you love and go on etsy. Etsy you can for sure find (& order) something you will love.

    If you don't want to go with escort cards, you can print cards listing the for each table (5x7 or 8x10), put them in picture frames, and put the frames on a table. It's the same thing as a seating chart but easier to transport.

    Love love love this!!!!!! My MOH send me a picture like this too for idea, and this is what Im gonna do. Ill place it in the same table of our photo guest book. Thank you for the pic. Ours will take less place, since is only 7 tables.
