Seating Chart and Place Cards

Ashley, on June 9, 2017 at 12:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I need to create a seating chart and place cards with each person's meal selection on it for my venue. Has anyone else had to do this? If so, please share your ideas and pictures!

There are dozens of ideas on Pinterest re how to mark place cards to indicate choice of entree.

You can use stickers, rubber stamps, colored dots, different colored cards, ribbon etc.

Yep! I think most people do this. We will be assigning everyone to a table. The place card will have name, table number and a sticker for meal choice. We are doing a little cow for steak, chicken for chicken, carrot for vegetarian and star for kids meal. The stickers can be ordered on Etsy in any color. They are $2.50 for 15 of them.

I haven't done it, but I work in catering and the easiest thing for the servers is if you use cute stickers (cow for beef, fish for fish, carrot for vegetarian, etc). Some people use different color schemes (for ex your colors are navy, pink and gold. Then navy would be beef, pink would be fish, gold would be vegetarian).

From a server perspective, the stickers are easier to read. If the room is dark at all trying to differentiate colors can be a challenge.

Stickers or little embellishments to indicate which meal they'll be receiving.

You don't have to do stickers if you want them printed. You can use color coded borders or paper stocks, OR - Find a printer who offers "variable data printing" and you can have each one of them customized.

You will probably need table numbers too, so the chart can guide them to the right tables.

I did different colored jewel dots. No dot meant filet mignon (it was the most popular), red meant salmon, green meant vegetarian, and blue mean children's meal.

I also put black dots on any guest's place card that had an allergy or special dietary restriction and wrote "gluten free" or "no shellfish" in the bottom right corner to remind the server what the specific issue was.

At my restaurant we use color coded. Blue is fish, yellow is chicken, red is beef. Maybe something like that?
