Seating assignment

Paige, on September 22, 2019 at 8:49 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
How did you all go about assigning seats? Any general rules? We are looking at doing a sweetheart table so the bridal party can sit with their family. Also, My FH mother father and brother have all passed. The tables seat 8.

I tried to group people with people they know, after that i went with similar interests and/or political views.

We did the same as pp. Just started out doing groupings around whatever commonalities, and went from there. There were a few couples who didn't know anyone else, so then we looked for people of similar ages/place in life/etc. that we figured they'd get along with. Most tables sat 8, but we ended up with about half with 8, half with 7, and one table of 6. Then when assigning groups to tables, we tried to keep multiple tables from the same groupings near each (e.g., there were 6 tables of B's extended family/family friends, 1 table of most the BM's and their SO's, 3 tables from the B&G's local "friend group" that included all the GM's and their SO's, 2 tables of their work friends, 1 table of G's family.

I did what PPs said. Another thing that was helpful for me was that I wrote everyone's name (or the couple) down on an index card, so that way I could physically play around with them and move them around. It became so much easier that way than just trying to do it on the computer.
