Seating arrangement question

Vicki, on December 7, 2019 at 8:29 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
Hello! I have attached a photo of my venue for an idea but my layout will be the same way and on the long tables I’m gonna have all the young people, close cousins, friends etc etc those who won’t be sitting much. Question is, id like to have my immediate family and first cousins be closest to the dancefloor, is it rude to put place cards with their names on the place settings so those first 4-6 seats on each side aren’t taken by someone random? Just looking for advice on proper etiquette. My seating chart will be printed on a mirror.

I don’t think it’s rude at all. that’s the point of a seating chart imo

I think at that point you should put out place cards for everyone. Those are big tables too so making it just assigned tables and not assigned seats will be difficult.

We had long tables like that and we didn’t have them marked as one big table but separate tables of 8 people. So if you want your family to be closest then have them seated at that table number.

I'd put place cards for everyone and not just a handful of people
