Seat for photographer?

Mariah, on June 17, 2018 at 8:29 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

Just wondering how the photographer eats during the reception. Looking back on all the weddings I've been to I can't remember. lol. I don't think they were ever seated at tables with guests. I'm just having a buffet, but where can they sit to eat? Will they be offended if I don't have a seat for them at a table?

I’ve never seen the photographer seated at a table before. We are providing seats for our photographers because we are having friends do it.

The venue might have a room for vendors to eat. Check with them. If not, seat the photographer at a table.

Our venue says they basically stand and eat, lol. Sucks but if they sit the price goes from $20 for a meal to $130 (our cost per head).

Okay, I guess I'll just ask the venue if there is a spot for them to sit. The reception is in a barn, so there's not like a convenient little kitchen chair tucked away somewhere. Our catering is actually included in our venue price so there's no cost per head, just a flat fee for the buffet.

We will be having a few vendors so we're just going to make a table for them behind all of our guests in the back.

Most weddings I’ve been to, the photographer sits at a table, usually with other vendors. If they are in another room to eat, they might miss something. In the case where the price goes up so significantly, I certainly would make sure they have a place to sit somewhere, even if it’s in the back. Manking them stand after having worked all day is just rude.

I agree, it's rude. I won't have any other vendors there as almost everything (except photography) is included with my venue. It's in a barn so there is no "back room" or anything. The price of food will not increase, I have a flat fee for the buffet.

Talk with your vendors about it. Our photographer has specifically said not to worry about where to seat her, she usually eats quickly in the back. I'm preparing a vendor table in the back just in case for everyone though.

Good idea! Like I said, I don't have any other vendors at the reception. Maybe I could get a small round table or card table and put a table cloth over it for the photographer(s) and just have it off in the back or corner somewhere. I think having somewhere to sit is a nice guester, even if it's just for a few minutes here and there.

I would talk to your caterer. Our caterer sets up a room in the back by the kitchen with 5 seats for our vendors with the food already set out so they can eat quickly and get back to the wedding.
