Seat covers?

Mary, on June 13, 2019 at 2:34 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

My reception venue is providing chairs for us but the chairs are the normal bland chairs and I can't afford to rent Chiavari chairs or anything like that. The wedding is fairly formal but it does have a playful touch which is why I think I could just leave them. Honest opinion, if you walked into a reception and these were the chairs, would it lessen the ambiance of the room? Do you think these look fine as is or are chair covers a good idea?

I think it's fine. i'm saying that because chair covers are one of those things that in the end no one cares for or notices at all anyway, so save your money. if you really do want to jazz it up a bit then you can do something simple and cheap like ribbon

I really hate chair covers. I know they are supposed to heighten the look, but they look tacky to me. I'd stick with the black chairs...at least they are black and not red or another color. No one will really notice the chairs anymore once they get up to dance and mingle.

Black is fine. Classic even. Chaircovers are not worth the hassle of putting them on (if you're doing it yourself) or the cost.

I really wouldn’t sweat it. If your guest only have opinions about the chairs at the end of the day... lol

The only time I have ever remembered anything about chairs at wedding is if they are wobbly and feel like I'm about to tip over. Everyone will be thinking "when does dinner start?" anyways lol

Have you priced out chair rentals? Maybe it’s cheaper than you think?

I did it and it was very steep because the closest vendor is 60 miles away and I need 80 chairs

I cannot tell you what the chairs looked like at any wedding I've ever been to. I say, save your money!

I agree! I hate chair covers. Seems very 90’s to me.

I’d keep the chairs and focus on nice centerpieces, table linens and uplighting in the venue—nobody will notice the chairs.

I can be such a cheap person...especially when it comes to wedding-related decor but for some reason I feel that chair covers change things dramatically. However, if it cost more than $100 total, I would just have to get over myself and ditch them

    These are FINE.

Let me tell you something which I think is the most valuable lesson I learned after having my wedding: you (and your guests) won't even notice little things like this. To give you an example, our venue told us they were going to put a table number and an assortment of different height candles in the center of the tables as centerpieces. I woke up the morning after my wedding and realized, I hadn't even noticed what the arrangements looked like. I literally had to scroll through photos to try to figure out what our centerpieces looked like. I saw, from the photos, they were actually pretty awful hahaha, the venue had put a table number and then like 2 or 3 tacky looking votive candles and that was it. If you had shown me that in advance and told me those would be our centerpieces, I would've been VERY unhappy about it. But, I can tell you, seriously, I flat out did not notice tiny details like that, and it was my own wedding lol.

Save your money for better things, and don't stress yourself about petty things like this! Your guests will remember your food, your drinks, your music and dancing/activities, and how happy and in love the two of you are. They will not remember (and will likely not even notice) your chairs Smiley smile

Chair covers are something nobody will notice. if you want to put money towards it and it fits within your budget that's a great added element. but nobody will remember your chairs, so don't stress about it. i think if you want to do something nice, a tulle ribbon would be just an effective and cost a lot less.
