Searching for detachable skirt...

FutureMrsKC, on January 30, 2018 at 2:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

So if anyone had seen my post yesterday about unexpectedly changing venues, I've now spent most of my work day today reconfiguring things in my head. I pretty much had everything planned out, decor bought, etc. (had the old venue booked since May) and while I'm still using the same colors and decor I'm starting to think my dress and my venue don't match (I know this is dramatic). I originally planned on an outdoor ceremony under a large tree. For this reason I bought a more understated dress, simple, flowy, uncomplicated. (picture attached). Now, plans have changed and I'm getting married in FH church he grew up in and having the reception in a building that looks like a big southern home. If I were to start over, I feel like I would choose a different dress to fit the look more. I feel like my current dress is a little too understated for the church wedding I'm envisioning now and was wondering if anyone had experience or recommendations for places to order a detachable tulle skirt. I don't have the budget for a new dress, and love the top of my dress, so I'm searching for a bigger tulle skirt to go over mine. I've checked amazon, etsy, etc. But wondering if I have more options?

I'm having a detachable skirt be made and added to my dress through the shop where i bought mine. I think any seamstress would be able to manage it.

    Otherwise, check BHLDN https://www.bhldn.com/bride-bridal-separates-skirts/

BHLDN is a little expensive. My dress was only $600, I can't justify spending another $700 on a skirt. I like the seamstress idea though, I'll have to ask!

Etsy seems to have some really reasonable options! There are some $75 ones and they have it in white and ivory. You could have them send you a sample swatch so you can match the color to your dress!

I honestly think your dress would look great in a church. I know someone that got married in a Catholic church with a very similar style dress and it looked amazing. Just so you don't stress too much if you can't find what you're looking for.

I have a detachable skirt for mine thats from Allure bridal but the style is different, I was orginally looking into a tulle skirt like the photo and found an option on etsy that I think was around $300, or was going to have a steamstress make it, since theres no extra embellishments just tulle I feel it shouldn't be too expensive or difficult to make

Cocomelody has received positive feedback from other brides on this site. As a pp said, how hard is it to gather some tulle on a ribbon?

If you can't find a detachable skirt, have you thought about a petticoat/underskirt? You could easily wear one under your flowy dress for the ceremony and just remove it for the reception if you wanted. Here's a quick example I found on Amazon for $20.
