Searching for a ceremony only location in the Morris County, NJ area

Amber, on November 20, 2017 at 8:41 PM Posted in New Jersey Planning 0 8

I am searching for a venue in the Morris County, NJ area for the ceremony only. Does anyone have any recommendations? I reached out to the Madison Hotel in Morristown, White Meadow Lake Club in Rockaway, and Highlawn Pavilion, but all said they only host ceremonies in conjunction with a reception. We booked a reception location for fall 2018, but the ceremony options there are not ideal. We are expecting no more than about 90 people. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Where is your reception located? Also, what are you looking for in terms of the ceremony location? Off the top of my head I can think of the Morris Museum, Hyatt Regency, and the Frelinghuysen Arboretum as a few places in the Morristown area that might let you rent space for a ceremony only. The colleges in the area might also let you rent out space...check out Drew University, FDU Madison Campus, and the College of Saint Elizabeth. Otherwise, the county is full of lovely parks if you are looking for an outdoor ceremony.

Thanks, I did try the colleges, but I am not an alumni so they said no. I'll check out the parks and the museum though!

Try Frelingheysen arboretum, Reeves Reed Arboretum, the Museum of Morris, Lambert Castle, Eagle Rock Reservation, Bamboo Brook. Ask your officiant; they probably know more places too.

Amber did you decide yet where to host your ceremony? I'm in a similar situation.

Janine - we felt Frelinghuysen Arboretum worked best for us and it was affordable. I called a ton of places and prices were fairly high at private places (not to mention a lot of places said they will not do a ceremony only option) so I focused in on parks instead because I really wanted the ceremony outdoors. The only issue is because it is a ceremony only event, they will only provide a limited amount of chairs and there is no backup plan for rain. However, we planned on keeping the ceremony more intimate anyway so this wasn't an issue and we are just hoping for the best with the weather. Some of the hotels in the area have really nice spaces to host a ceremony and would be convenient if you are doing a room block. Good luck!
