Seamstress messes up my dress!

Lockie, on June 24, 2020 at 1:22 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
I got my dress back today and the lady that worked on it wasn’t there. She had me pick it up without trying it on (which I thought was weird, but didn’t think anything of it because so many people referred me to her). I had it hemmed, taken up at the shoulders and on the sides. It looked like she rolled the straps at the shoulders and just sewed them, keeping the material there!! So now it looks like I have ivory caterpillars on my collarbones (trying to at least laugh here)! The zipper in the back is crooked now too. I have no idea what to do... help!!!!!

Have you talked to the seamstress yet that did the work? I would start there.

Definitely get in touch with the seamstress. Regarding the shoulder straps, it is not uncommon to do what she did (it's like hemming up the length of something, ordinarily in case it needs to be let out later the excess material is concealed but not cut) but can definitely be fixed if you aren't happy. Just make sure the length of the adjusted shoulder straps is perfect and then have her cut and sew the straps in place.

Not too sure about the zip but I hope she can fix it!!

    Good luck

At least the fabric is still there so if someone else has to go back and fix what she did, it’s salvageable! Good luck girl!

This is such a big fear of mine. I’d go back and have them fix it. I’m sure it can be adjusted.

You march back there, try on your dress, point to the caterpillars and say “I don’t think so.” Ok, or you can say something less confrontational like “These need to be fixed please.”
