Scratchy Dress

WaitingToBeAWife, on June 4, 2018 at 10:55 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

I picked up my dress over the weekend and I'm still as in love with it as I was when I first tried it on. My only issue is that the fabric on the inside of the dress is scratchy and I'm nervous that it will irritate me throughout my wedding day. Any suggestions for how to fix this? I know they make slips for under dresses but I really don't want to add any volume or anything to the dress. I thought about wearing shapewear (not for shape but just for relief from the fabric) but it would have to go all the way to my ankles and I'm worried that I will get hot with too much on under the dress. I don't remember the sample being as scratchy so maybe the more I wear it the softer it will get?

One wear is not enough wear to soften a fabric. Have you mentioned this to your seamstress? Did they have any suggestions? I really do think you should consider adding a slip or asking the seamstress to put a liner of some sort inside the dress.

I've seen a lot of brides use a chaffing stick on areas that are most scratchy.

Have you let your seamstress know? Maybe they can add a lining in a softer fabric to act as a barrier.

What style is your dress? One layer shouldn't add volume but that depends on the lining fabric and the style of your dress.

The top and straps of my illusion neckline dress are kind of scratchy and my seamstress is adding a thin layer of fabric on the inside of them.

My dress had illusion neckline that was super itchy. Once the seamstress steamed the dress, it helped significantly with the itchiness
