Scared i won't fit in my wedding dress

John Smith, on March 26, 2020 at 2:41 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

I ordered my wedding dress back in February and it's not due to arrive until mid-May.

It's a-line, so it only has to fit at the waist, but when they measured me for the dress I was a 26" in waist so they ordered the size 6 (which is a 26.5"), and when I just measured myself at home I had a 29" waist.

I hadn't thought I had gained weight, but I guess I gained 3 inches around my waist?? I'm trying not to stress about it, but now I'm slightly panicked. My wedding is (hopefully) July 4th, and it doesn't help that all the gyms are closed.

I was worried about my dress too. I was scared my legs wouldn’t fit so I ordered a size up Im lucky I did because there was literally no wiggle room when I did my fitting. Now im worried about maintaining my weight/losing a little since my wedding got postponed.

I would say eat clean first then add in home exercises like Melle said. U can use fitnessblender.com. Their workouts are free or you can purchase a workout schedule for $15 and workout at home w dumbells. But definitely start w diet first losing fat starts in the kitchen.

I had the same issue the store measured my waist at 26 as well and when I went home my measurement was off...turned out it was my measuring tape it wasn't accurate so I purchased another on amazon with good reviews to confirm tape would be accurate and sure enough my waist is 26 inches.

Try something on of yours that is fitted at the waist. If it still fits you haven't gained weight. That would be an awfully big difference that I'm sure you would have noticed.

A seamstress can take out the waist if need be. Wearing a corset underneath also makes a nice difference.

There is no way my dress fits at the moment, and I gained much more than 3 inches. My plan B is to switch the zipper to a corset back. Wish I had your waist size!!

Make sure you measure your true waist, you could be measuring too low.

I had that issue when they made my dress the top of it was right to zip. Alterations included in mine so it better fit! They have to make sure I can breath in it.

Breathe! All brides freak out about the same thing. I would recheck measurements with a different tape, and also just make sure you're not going too crazy with the carbs. But don't obsess over it! I'm sure a seamstress can let it out if you absolutely must. Just breathe. It'll be ok

OMG!!! I feel the same!! They wanted me to order a size 10 when I’m an 8 just Bc if I gained any weight it wouldn’t fit me anymore and since I was planning on losing more weight I said no.. well I think I have gained like 5lbs of fat so yeah I also gained a couple of inches so I started freaking out.. well last week I decided to start at home workouts/runs and eating super healthy!! So yes definitely start some home workouts, plenty of free on YouTube/Instagram and do some cardio/run and eat better and we should be back to “normal”Smiley smile

Yeah I agree. I've probably been snacking more because I'm home all day. I'll have to get myself back in a good eating schedule.

I'd love it if it were just the tape measure I'm using haha. I haven't gained any weight on the scale, so perhaps it's just that??

I'd love to keep the zipper, but a corset would be fine too. I'm just worried that there won't be time for alterations if the virus pushes back the ship date of the dress

I was paranoid right after I bought the dress, and then I guess I got too relaxed. I've been running a whole lot more (like 7+ miles), but I haven't been lifting at all, so maybe my weight has just moved around haha. I definitely need to get myself back into a proper eating schedule. I'm glad I realised I was gaining weight before it was too late!
