Scam videographer footage

Hi there. I was married back in June and the provided photographer offered videography to be added on to our package for us for $1000. And For $500 more we could purchase all uncut footage from the wedding. We purchased it and only received a 4 minute video of our private vows and a 20 minute video of speeches. Throughout these videos and the highlight video we received there was apparently no useable audio to add to the highlight video. The speech video is sloppy and wasn’t even filming the speech givers at times. The private vows video audio is so terrible we can barely make out what is being said at times. There company says we received all uncut USABLE footage and nothing can be done to fix the issues we addressed. So we paid for all uncut footage but received no footage from getting ready, ceremony, or reception and that means no audio either. Considering disputing these charges but wondering what everyone thinks about the situation.

That sounds really fishy. Did you witness them record all those other moments? I would go back to them and say you don’t care whether or not they deem the footage “useable”, that you would like every second of footage they captured, regardless of quality. You paid extra for ALL footage, and that is what you would like. If they refuse, I would definitely insist on a refund for that $500.

Does your contract list "all usable footage" in the section discussing what you will receive for the uncut footage? If not, then I agree with Cece. You should insist on receiving all audio and video that was captured, regardless of whether or not they think it is usable. If they refuse, I would absolutely request a refund for the raw footage.
