Scaling back

Kim, on June 3, 2020 at 9:39 AM Posted in Planning 1 5
My fiancé and I have decided to scale back on our guest list. We made the decision that we will have our wedding this year (state permitting) but on a smaller scale. We originally sent save the dates to 200 guests but are now cutting that in half.

How would you handle notifying the people that have been cut?

I was thinking for us telling them due to restrictions we will have a smaller wedding and we will celebrate with them next year either a picnic or a brewery celebration to also renew our vows and celebrate with those that could not come this year. I’m not sure if that should be a phone call, message, or maybe send out a card with the note printed out in it?

Most stationary websites have added pages for "change the date" / "cut the guest list" cards that all have template wordings on them. You can look over the wordings used there and pick parts of each you like!

I found a website a few weeks ago that has a pretty good template for having to uninvite guests. https://theeverylastdetail.com/coronavirus-wedding-postponement-email-templates-to-send-to-guests/

I sent them a card saying in short we wish we could celebrate with them in person but due to COVID we will be have a smaller wedding than planned and invited them to join using zoom.
