Saying ‘yes To The Dress’ Too Soon?

Elisa, on March 31, 2019 at 6:41 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19
Soooo.. I’m getting married on November 16th of this year, and I went dress shopping for the first time yesterday. The 4th dress I tried on, I loved! I almost wanted to go ahead and just buy it.. It was within my price range, it looked amazing and I felt beautiful, and my family and best friend all said, “I think you found the one!”. And my stylist girl even said, “Believe it or not, most brides usually find ‘the one’ within the first 5 dresses they try on!”.. But I felt that was just something she kept saying to get me to buy it ASAP...

But in all the excitement, I reminded myself that I have dress appointments every Saturday this month, and I told myself that I would at least go to my appointment today to see what else is out there for me.

What do y’all think? Should I go for the gown I loved on my first time trying on dresses? Or see what else is out there and come back to it, if I can’t find anything else? I’m torn because I loved that dress, but I don’t want to sell myself short if there may be something better out there..

So many people have dress regret. You will likely have "what if" moments whether you buy the 4th dress you tried on or the 100th. I don't say this to be negative, only realistic. It won't hurt to go to the next appt you have scheduled and see what the other store has to offer. In the end, go with your gut. No matter what you will be the most beautiful woman in the room on your wedding day!

I went dress shopping Feb. 2018 and my wedding is June 2019. I said yes to my dress that day, but didn't order it until September. I gave it time and then went back and tried it on again and still loved it so I ordered it.

If you have the appointments and don't mind spending the time trying on other dresses then I would go and try on other dresses. If you keep comparing it to that dress then you know you found the one. If you find one you love better than great, you know it wasn't the right one.

I think if you're worried about the what ifs then you should definitely try on other dresses, if for no other reason than peace of mind. I think you'll learn quickly into your next appointment how you feel. Good luck!

I would recommend trying on others. I tried on 4 total. Over a year before my wedding. Bought the first dress. And I soooo wish I had tried on more dresses. It's the only time in your life you get to do it. Try on different silhouettes, play beat the dress, whatever. I think it'll cut down on future regrets. Your dress will still be there!

Go to your other appointments! It took me so many more than 10 dresses to realize what style looked best on me and what I wanted in a dress! I’m glad I took the time to go to multiple shops!

I'd go to at least one other appointment, but ultimately if you still love that 4th dress, don't feel bad about getting it. I had a lackluster appointment at one shop where I tried on 5 dress, but at the second shop my dress was the third or fourth I tried on.

I went dress shopping at one place, picked the 2nd dress and had no dress regret. I think you should still look around though just in case! Also dress shopping is fun Smiley laugh and this way you’ll really know if your mind keeps wandering back to that one dress...

I don't think it's too soon, I found my dress at the second place I checked (maybe the 10th dress I tried). I knew it was the one because I didn't want to try any other dresses on. I've had it for over a year and I still can't wait to wear it on my big day.

It’s really up to you. I bought the first dress that I tried on because I knew it was the one. If you really aren’t sure, maybe it’s just not the one.

I started early & have no regrets, Im getting married September 2020, my first appointment i was so convinced i found the one, everyone loved it, i loved it, but i thought the same thing, i have more appointments, my 2nd appointment i found the dress that gave me “that feeling”, i had the tears, the goosebumps, i had never felt more beautiful, so, it really all depends, sometimes its that first one, sometimes the 10th, go to the next appointment, and if you still keep comparing it to that one you loved, then maybe there you have your answer! Good luck ❤️

I went dress shopping for the first time on Thursday and fell in love with the very first dress I tried on. It wasn’t even the style I thought I wanted either. I only tried on five dresses, with the third being the one I went in wanting. I kept putting on the first one and the third one(at least three times), and just knew that the first one was the one. But it’s definitely different for everyone. So if you want to keep looking, go for it....no harm in trying on other dresses. But if you keep thinking about that one dress, it might be the one!

Only you know if you felt that magic when you put it on! If you felt it and you’re confident you are in love, get it!! If it’s the right decision now, it’ll be the right decision in a few months! No need to wait-check it off your list and bask in that happiness!

Dress shopping is so exciting!!! I had a bunch of dress appointments scheduled for a long weekend and thought it would take me a long time to figure out and find my dress - I walked into the first store said to my mom “definitely not my style of dresses here” and walked out loving all six of the dresses I tried on but thought I should keep searching - i tried two more shops but went back 24 hours later to try on and buy the dress I loved at the first store! Trust your gut, enjoy the process of feeling special and can’t wait to hear an update when you find your dress!

My wedding isn't until Feb 2020 and I have been to many dress appointments in the past year of being engaged. I'm still head over heels for the second dress I tried on and will be pulling the trigger in July. Sometimes when you know, you really do know!

It's definitely been an interesting experience so far! Kind of cool to wear such pretty gowns, even if you don't like them haha!

Did the store tell you prior to you trying on your dress that it would take that long? Because I ask the consultants.. and if the time frame cuts it too close to wedding day, I don’t bother looking for a dress there, so as not to take that risk
