Saving Money in Wedding

Kaleigh, on February 14, 2020 at 1:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hi there! So I recently got engaged and my wedding is August 8th. I’ve been getting ideas on what to do but I haven’t started planning anything yet. I want a small one about 50-75 at most and I know weddings can be pricey so I’m trying to go the most basic way with everything so we don’t break the bank. Does anyone have tips or advice on how they saved/didn’t spend a lot of money on their wedding but it was still fun? Thanks!

One thing that really has saved us a lot of money is having the ceremony at a park ($20/hr). We are getting a cake from Sam's (about $70) and doing fake flowers (only spent $350 on everything). We will come in around 8 or 9k including my dress and we invited 85 people. BBQ and Italian are good food to serve since they are typically lower in price per person.

I didn't really have decor. My friends helped me out a lot by providing me with stuff such as one friend did all the video and photo services pro Bono. I borrowed stuff from friends so that I wouldn't need to buy it myself.

For the bridesmaids bouquets we used fake flowers from the dollar tree. For favors we are making our own chocolate covered pretzels. Utilize the dollar tree and Amazon. For a cake go to Walmart or shoprite. DIY decor or have limited decor.

One tip of how i pulled it off was conducting my ceremony and reception t the same vendor and making sure majority of services was provided there.

My best tip is not about the wedding but about the dress. If you want to wear a full length gown but don’t want to spend $$ on a traditional wedding dress, look for white bridesmaid gowns. Virtually all bridesmaid retailers make gowns in every color, including white/cream/ivory. Almost all are $250 or less. The dresses will be more on the simple / classic side, but you can add bling with sashes, jewelry, toppers, a veil etc. Honestly, I was amazed (in a great way!) at how many bridesmaid gowns looked just like wedding gowns when made in white.
